Abstract

This research describes the environmental rehabilitation community institution in Pandeglang and its role in environmental preservation in Teluk Village, viewed as a social movement institution/organization. The research aims to understand the environmental preservation movement conducted by the RHBS Community in Teluk Village, the role of the RHBS community in environmental preservation in Teluk Village, and the resources possessed by the RHBS Community as an institution. The study follows a qualitative descriptive approach, collecting data through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results indicate that the RHBS Community is a new social movement institution in Teluk Village, aligning with Jurgen Habermas's concept of a new social movement with a defensive goal to restore the previous environmental conditions. This initiative is prompted by the accumulation of waste in Teluk Village, impacting the community. The RHBS Community plays a role in environmental preservation in Teluk Village, including balancing through direct actions (GPS and PMS), indirect actions proposing programs to the local government, and conducting social media campaigns. Additionally, they empower the community through environmental education, waste banks, and waste sorting houses. As an intermediary institution, the RHBS Community collaborates with NGOs such as World Clean Up Day and the Rehabilitation Foundation, advocates for and cooperates with Teluk Village, and engages the community in various activities. The community possesses moral resources through volunteerism, support from World Clean Up Day, and the local community. Organizational resources include infrastructure, social networks, and organization. Cultural resources encompass traditions like "Syukuran laut" and Independence Day parades. Human resources consist of the skills and knowledge of RHBS members as social movement actors, while material resources include a secretariat and 25 active members.
