Abstract

This study aims to determine the increase in interest in learning sociology class XII social studies at SMAN 13 Tangerang Regency after using the Problem Based Learning model. The method used experimental method with a quantitative approach. This study used Quasi Experimental Design research method with pretest-posttest control group design. The population of this study was all XII Social Studies students at SMAN 13 Tangerang Regency totaling 255 students. The selection of research samples using purposive sampling techniques, so that XII IPS 5 was selected as an experimental class, and XII IPS 6 as a control class. The data collection techniques used are observation, documentation, and questionnaires. The questionnaire was used to determine interest in learning sociology before and after the application of the Problem Based Learning model. The data analysis techniques used are validity tests, reliability tests, normality tests, homogeneity tests, t tests, paired samples tests, and simple regression tests. With the conditions of acceptance/rejection of H0/H1 hypothesis testing as follows: 1. If sig. < 0.05, then H0 is rejected, H1 is accepted; 2. If Sig. > 0.05, then H0 is accepted, H1 is rejected. Based on the results of the t test, the pretest data of the control class and the experimental class obtained the Sig value. (2-tailed) is 0.181 > 0.05, so it can be concluded that there is no difference in pretest data of interest in learning sociology between the control class and the experimental class. After the action was given, the results of the t-test data of the control class and the experimental class obtained the value of Sig. (2-tailed) is 0.000 < 0.05, it can be concluded that there is a difference between the control class and the experimental class. And from the paired samples test on pretest data and experimental class posttest data, Sig (2-tailed) values of 0.000 < 0.05 were obtained. Then based on the coefficient of determination test, an R-Square value of 0.643 was obtained, showing that the proportion of the influence of the Problem Based Learning model variable on student learning interest was 64.3%. This means that the Problem Based Learning model has a proportion of influence on students' interest in learning sociology of 64.3%, while the remaining 35.7% is influenced by other variables that are not in this study. From the acquisition of the hypothesis test, H1 was accepted, so it can be concluded that the application of the Problem Based Learning model can increase student learning interest in sociology subjects with a magnitude of influence of 64.3%.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan minat belajar sosiologi kelas XII IPS di SMAN 13 Kabupaten Tangerang setelah menggunakan model Problem Based Learning. Metode yang digunakan metode eksperimen dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian Quasi Eksperimental Design dengan rancangan pretest-posttest control group. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa XII IPS di SMAN 13 Kabupaten Tangerang yang berjumlah 255 siswa. Pemilihan sampel penelitian dengan teknik purposive sampling, sehingga terpilih yaitu XII IPS 5 sebagai kelas eksperimen, dan XII IPS 6 sebagai kelas kontrol. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah observasi, dokumentasi, dan angket. Angket digunakan untuk mengetahui minat belajar sosiologi sebelum dan sesudah penerapan model Problem Based Learning. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah uji validitas, uji reliabilitas, uji normalitas, uji homogenitas, uji t, uji paired samples test, dan uji regresi sederhana. Dengan ketentuan peneriman/penolakan pengujian hipotesis H0/H1 sebagai berikut: 1. Jika sig. < 0,05, maka H0 ditolak, H1 diterima; 2. Jika Sig. > 0,05, maka H0 diterima, H1 ditolak. Berdasarkan hasil uji t data pretest kelas kontrol dan kelas eksperimen diperoleh nilai Sig. (2-tailed) adalah 0,181 > 0,05 maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa tidak terdapat perbedaan data pretest minat belajar sosiologi antara kelas kontrol dan kelas eksperimen. Setelah diberikan tindakan hasil uji t data posttest kelas kontrol dan kelas eksperimen diperoleh nilai Sig. (2-tailed) adalah 0,000 < 0,05 maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan antara kelas kontrol dan kelas eksperimen. Dan dari uji paired samples test pada data pretest dan data posttest kelas eksperimen diperoleh nilai Sig (2-tailed) sebesar 0,000 < 0,05. Kemudian berdasarkan uji koefisien determinasi diperoleh nilai R-Square 0,643 menunjukkan bahwa proporsi pengaruh variabel model Problem Based Learning terhadap minat belajar siswa sebesar 64,3%. Artinya model Problem Based Learning memiliki proporsi pengaruh terhadap minat belajar sosiologi siswa sebesar 64,3%, sedangkan sisanya yaitu 35,7% dipengaruhi oleh variabel lain yang tidak ada di dalam penelitian ini. Dari perolehan uji hipotesis tersebut H1 diterima, jadi dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan model Problem Based Learning dapat meningkatkan minat belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran sosiologi dengan besarnya pengaruh sebesar 64,3%.
