Abstract

This study was based on the low mathematical problem-solving ability and the lack of motivation to learn mathematics. So that a learning model is needed that can improve these abilities. The learning model used in this study is the Teams Games Tournament cooperative learning model. This research was conducted at MTs Al-Fath Cilegon City in the 2022/2023 school year which aims to determine the effect of the Teams Games Tournament learning model on students' problem-solving ability and motivation to learn mathematics. The research method used in this research is quasi experiment with two group pretest postest type. This study involved two classes consisting of experimental and control classes. The population in this study were all VIII grade students of MTs Al-Fath Cilegon City. The samples of this study were class VIII C as the experimental class and class VIII D as the kontrol class. The instrumen used in this study is a problem-solving ability test instrument and a non-test instrument in the form of a questionnaire of students' mathematics learning motivation. The results showed that there was an effect of the Teams Games Tournament learning model on students' problem-solving ability and motivation to learn mathematics.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis dan kurangnya motivasi belajar matematika siswa. Sehingga dibutuhkan model pembelajaran yang dapat meningkatkan kemampuan tersebut. Model pembelajaran yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah model pembelajaran kooperatif Teams Games Tournament. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di MTs Al-Fath Kota Cilegon tahun ajaran 2022/2023 yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran Teams Games Tournament terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah dan motivasi belajar matematika siswa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah quasi eksperimen dengan jenis two group pretes postes. Penelitian ini melibatkan dua kelas yang terdiri dari kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII MTs Al-Fath Kota Cilegon. Sampel penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII C sebagai kelas eksperimen dan siswa kelas VIII D sebagai kelas kontrol. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini berupa instrumen tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah dan instrumen non tes berupa angket motivasi belajar matematika siswa. Hasil penelitian didapatkan bahwa adanya pengaruh model pembelajaran Teams Games Tournament terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah dan motivasi belajar matematika siswa.
