Abstract

This research aims to investigate the language features and also to know the interest, weakness, and advantages of using ted talks to teach recount text material, at 10th semester academic year 2022/2023 of SMKN 03 Tangerang. Based on their experiences. The researcher used qualitative research with content analysis as study method. Questionnaire and interview were used as the data collection technique. Subjects of this research were the 10th semester of SMKN 03 Tangerang Students, which consists of 40 students. Based on the findings, it is found out that the language features contains of specific participant, past tense, time connective, specific time, adverbs, conjunction, specific place, action verbs, and also personal comments. The student interview interest, weaknesses, and advantages at SMKN 3 Tangerang have positive respond when learning recount text using TED Talk videos. The student got interest because they can learn recount text in different way that they not felt the learning experience before. The weaknesses is based on the video content. So, the teacher should find better topic and suitable video that can be learn for high-school level. Also, not whole students have good English listening skills. And the advantages is the students could discover new ideas when writing the recount text
