Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of math anxiety and gender on the ability to understand mathematical concepts (KPKM). This research was conducted in class VIII of SMP Negeri 20 Tangerang in the 2022/2023 academic year. The research method used was a quantitative descriptive method with a treatment by level 2 x 2 design. The sample used was 120 students consisting of 60 female students and 60 male students, each of which was divided into two groups, namely the low anxiety group and the high anxiety. Data was collected by using tests and analyzed by ANOVA. The results of this study indicate that: 1) There is an influence of anxiety on the ability to understand mathematical concepts 2) There is an influence of gender on the ability to understand mathematical concepts, where the average score of female students is higher than that of male students 3) There is an interaction effect between mathematical anxiety and gender on the ability tounderstand mathematical concepts. The conclusion of this study is that there is an influence of math anxiety and gender on the ability to understand mathematical concepts.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh kecemasan matematika dan gender terhadap kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematika (KPKM). Penelitian ini dilakukan di kelas VIII SMP Negeri 20 Tangerang tahun ajaran 2022/2023. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif kuantitatif dengan rancangan treatment by level 2 x 2. Sampelyang digunakan sebanyak 120 siswa yang terdiri dari 60 siswa perempuan dan 60 siswa laki-laki yang masing-masing dibagi dalam dua kelompok, yaitu kelompok kecemasan rendah dan kelompok kecemasan tinggi. Data dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan tes dan dianalisisdengan ANOVA. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa: 1) Terdapat pengaruh kecemasan terhadap kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematika 2) Terdapat pengaruh gender terhadap kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematika, dimana rata-rata skor siswa perempuan lebih tinggi dibanding siswa laki-laki 3) Terdapat pengaruh interaksi antara kecemasan matematika dan gender terhadap kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematika. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah terdapat pengaruh kecemasan matematika dan gender terhadap kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematika
