Abstract

Chemistry finds learning difficult as a large portion of the material has abstract meanings. Atomic structure is a branch of science that studies the evolution of atomic theory, atomic particles, and atomic symbols. According to previously conducted research, it was found that 79% of students experienced misconceptions at the representative microscopic level. This is likely due to students' difficulty in explaining atomic theory. Virtual reality is a technology that can help visualize images in three dimensions, therefore it can aid in the proper understanding of concepts. The goal of this study is to improve virtual reality-based teaching materials by utilizing a lab application that is really used by students. The method used to develop this media product is the Borg and Gall Borg model, which consists of the following: 1) potential and problem 2) data collection; 3) product design; 4) design validation 5) design revision 6) product testing. The results of the study resulted that VR-based learning media according to the assessment of (1) Media experts, resulted in an overall V value of 0.89 with the Very Decent category. (2) material experts, obtained an overall V score of 0.84 with the Very Decent category and (3) limited product trials were carried out on a limited basis in 25 students at SMA Negeri 4 Kota Serang class XI MIPA, obtained an overall average percentage score of 84% with the Very Decent category. according to the overall data, VRbased chemistry learning media is suitable for use in learning.

Additional Information: Kimia dianggap sulit untuk dipelajari dikarenakan sebagian besar materi bersifat abstrak. Struktur atom merupakan cabang ilmu kimia yang mengkaji perkembangan teori atom, partikel penyusun inti atom serta simbol-simbol unsur kimia. Berdasarkan penelitian yang telah dilakukan sebelumnya, dihasilkan bahwa 79% mengalami miskonsepsi dilevel representatif mikroskopik, hal ini dikarenakan sulit dalam menggambarkan teori atom. Virtual reality merupakan teknologi yang bisa membantu memvisualisasikan gambar secara 3D, sehingga virtual reality bisa membantu penggambaran pemahaman konsep yang tepat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan produk media pembelajaran kimia berbasis VR menggunakan aplikasi millealab yang praktis dipergunakan oleh peserta didik. Metode yang digunakan untuk mengembangkan produk media ini ialah model Borg and Gall Borg yaitu : 1) potensi serta masalah 2)pengumpulan data 3) desain produk 4) validasi desain 5) revisi desain 6) uji coba produk. Hasil penelitian menghasilkan bahwa media pembelajaran berbasis VR sesuai penilaian dari (1) ahli Media, dihasilkan hasil keseluruhan nilai V sebesar 0,89 dengan kategori Sangat Layak. (2) ahli Materi, didapatkan hasil keseluruhan nilai V sebesar 0,84 dengan kategori Sangat Layak serta (3) Uji coba produk terbatas dilakukan secara terbatas di 25 orang di SMA Negeri 4 Kota Serang kelas XI MIPA, didapatkan hasil keseluruhan rerata skor persentase sebesar 84% dengan kategori Sangat Layak. Sesuai data keseluruhan tersebut, media pembelajaran kimia berbasis VR Layak untuk digunakan dalam pembelajaran.
