Abstract
This study aims to find out how the level of reflection in EFL preservice teachers and how EFL preservice teachers perceive reflective learning journal as one of the tools that can be used to prepare them to become professional teacher candidates. This research designed was case studies. The researcher collected data from the reflection journal of EFL preservice teachers and distributed questionnaires and interviewed EFL preservice teachers in the 6th semester of English education department at Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University in Serang city. The research findings show that (1) EFL preservice teachers' level of reflection is on average at level C. This is due to several factors including not being used to writing journals, less understanding, and difficulty in starting to write; (2) EFL preservice teachers' response to reflective learning journals is very positive. This is because reflective learning journals play an important role in the psychological empowerment of EFL preservice teachers. In this study, reflecting and evaluating oneself by using reflective learning journals can help EFL preservice teachers in determining future steps and policies in teaching. Therefore, the use of reflective learning journal can make EFL preservice teachers be positive in responding to many issues, identifying problems, and making choices in the future. Therefore, EFL preservice teacher's professionalism can be prepared by using reflective learning journals.
