Abstract

Goldfish have high economic value due to their distinctive body shape and attractive color. The quality of color is a crucial factor for selection in the ornamental fish market. In this study, we aimed to assess the effect of adding moringa leaf extract (MLE) to goldfish feed as a source of pigmentation on the brightness of their color. Four doses of MLE (0 mL, 40 mL, 50 mL, 60 mL) were added to commercial feed using a coating method. Goldfish (average weight of 3.2 ± 0.27 g) were reared in a 20 L aquarium (30x30x30 cm3) for 40 days, with three feedings per day by at satiation. The results of variance analysis showed that the treatment MLE had no significant effect on absolute length and survival, but was significant on absolute weight and the amount of feed consumption. Fish blood analyzed in this observation was still within the tolerance limits for fish, with leukocytes, erythrocytes, hemoglobin and hematocrit ranging between 4.75 - 7.17 x 104 cells/mm3, 5.45 - 2.11 x 106 cells/mm3, 5-5.8 g %, and 10.8 - 22.58 %. The average color quality score was 5.04, with a diversity of 57.81 in the caudal fin, 71.71 in the dorsal region, 71.13 in the head, and the highest number of chromatophores recorded at 136.00 cells. These findings suggest that MLE can effectively enhance the color of goldfish.

Additional Information: Ikan mas mempunyai nilai ekonomi yang tinggi karena bentuk tubuhnya yang khas dan warnanya yang menarik. Kualitas warna menjadi faktor krusial dalam pemilihan di pasar ikan hias. Dalam penelitian ini, kami bertujuan untuk menilai pengaruh penambahan ekstrak daun kelor (MLE) pada pakan ikan mas sebagai sumber pigmentasi terhadap kecerahan warnanya. Empat dosis MLE (0 mL, 40 mL, 50 mL, 60 mL) ditambahkan ke pakan komersial menggunakan metode pelapisan. Ikan mas (berat rata-rata 3,2 ± 0,27 g) dipelihara dalam akuarium berukuran 20 L (30x30x30 cm3) selama 40 hari, dengan pemberian pakan tiga kali sehari secara at satiation. Hasil analisis ragam menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan MLE tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap panjang absolut dan kelangsungan hidup, namun nyata terhadap bobot absolut dan jumlah konsumsi pakan. Darah ikan yang dianalisis pada pengamatan ini masih dalam batas toleransi ikan, dengan leukosit, eritrosit, hemoglobin dan hematokrit berkisar antara 4,75 - 7,17 x 104 sel/mm3, 5,45 - 2,11 x 106 sel/mm3, 5-5,8 g%, dan 10,8 - 22,58 %. Rata-rata skor kualitas warna adalah 5,04, dengan keanekaragaman 57,81 pada sirip ekor, 71,71 pada daerah punggung, 71,13 pada kepala, dan jumlah kromatofor tertinggi tercatat sebanyak 136,00 sel. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa MLE dapat secara efektif meningkatkan warna ikan mas.
