Abstract
Flow separation can lead to losses due to adverse pressure gradients, which in turn can trigger wake phenomena. These phenomena occur when the flow speed behind differs from the free flow speed. Such losses can elevate drag coefficients and potentially induce stalls. Experiments are conducted using a wind tunnel to mitigate flow separation on the NACA S1046 airfoil by incorporating a turbulator device. This device is tested at varying air flow speeds of 2, 3, 4, and 5 m/s and at attack angles of 6°, 7°, and 8°. The implementation of rectangular turbulators, installed at 50% chord, has shown a promising increase in Cl/Cd values across all attack angles. This is evident in Figure 4.6, where the area colored in red is significantly dominant. As a result, the Rectangular Turbulator is recommended as the optimal turbulator shape for the Airfoil NACA S1046.

Additional Information: | Separasi aliran dapat mengakibatkan kerugian berupa adverse pressure gradien yang akan menimbulkan fenomena wake, dimana fenomena tersebut merupakan kondisi dimana kecepatan aliran yang terdapat di belakang berbeda dengan kecepatan aliran bebas. Kerugian tersebut dapat menaikan angka drag namun dapat menyebabkan stal. Pengujian dilakukan dengan wind tunnel untuk mengurangi aliran separasi pada NACA S1046 dengan penambahan perangkat turbulator pada variasi kecepatan aliran udara sebesar 2, 3, 4, dan 5 m/s dengan sudut serang 6°, 7°, dan 8°. Penggunaan turbulator rectangular dengan pemasangan 50% chord memiliki pertambahan nilai Cl/Cd cukup baik pada setiap sudut serang, hal ini mengacu pada Gambar 4.6 dimana area yang berwarna merah memiliki luasan yang cukup dominan. Oleh karena itu rekomendasi bentuk turbulator terbaik untuk dipasangkan pada airfoil NACA S1046 adalah Turbulator Rectangular. | |||||||||
