Abstract

Red mangrove (Rhizophora mucronata) is often used in mangrove forest rehabilitation. Planting Rhizophora mucronata through seedlings can increase the success rate of plant growth. This research was aimed to determine the effect of soaking young coconut water and the provision of NPK fertilizer on the growth of mangrove propagule seedlings (Rhizophora mucronata). The research was conducted from February until June 2023 at the Screen House of the Banten Agricultural Instrument Standardization Implementation Center (BPSIP), Serang Regency, Banten. The research was arranged in a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with three replications and consisted of two factors. The first factor is the soaking treatment which consists of 2 levels: soaking without coconut water and soaking with coconut water. The second factor is the concentration of NPK fertilizer, consisting of 4 levels: 0 g/plant, 9 g/plant, 12 g/plant, and 15 g/plant. The parameters observed were fruit chip release time (days), shoot release time (days), leaf emergence time (days), number of leaves (strands), leaf length (cm), seedling height (cm), stem diameter (mm), number of roots (strands), and root length (cm). The results showed that the immersion treatment of 100% concentration of young coconut water for 6 hours on mangrove seedlings (Rhizophora mucronata) gave results that significantly affected the observation parameters of stem diameter, number of roots and root length. The treatment of NPK 15-15-15 fertilizer has a significant effect on the parameters of shoot rupture time, leaf emergence time, number of leaves 6 weeks after planting, seedling height 6 weeks after planting, stem diameter, number of roots, and root length. The best NPK fertilizer concentration level treatment is found in the 9 g/plant NPK fertilizer concentration on the observation parameters of leaf emergence, number of roots, and root length. There was an interaction between the soaking treatment and the application of NPK fertilizer on the observation parameter of root length.

Additional Information: Bakau merah (Rhizophora mucronata) merupakan tanaman yang kerap digunakan dalam upaya rehabilitasi kelestarian hutan mangrove. Penanaman bibit Rhizophora mucronata melalui persemaian dapat meningkatkan tingkat keberhasilan pertumbuhan tanaman. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh perendaman air kelapa muda dan pemberian pupuk NPK terhadap pertumbuhan semai propagul mangrove (Rhizophora mucronata). Penelitian dilakukan dari bulan Februari 2023 sampai Juni 2023 berlokasi di Screen House Balai Penerapan Standardisasi Instrumen Pertanian (BPSIP) Banten, Kabupaten Serang, Banten. Penelitian disusun dalam Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) dengan tiga ulangan yang terdiri dari dua faktor. Faktor pertama adalah perlakuan perendaman, terdiri dari 2 taraf yaitu Perendaman tanpa air kelapa dan perendaman dengan air kelapa. Faktor kedua adalah pemberian konsentrasi pupuk NPK, terdiri dari 4 taraf yaitu 0 g/tanaman, 9 g/tanaman, 12 g/tanaman, 15 g/tanaman. Parameter yang diamati yaitu waktu lepas keping buah (hari), waktu lepas pucuk (hari), waktu muncul daun (hari), jumlah daun (helai), panjang daun (cm), tinggi semai (cm), diameter batang (mm), jumlah akar (helai), dan panjang akar (cm). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan perendaman air kelapa muda konsentrasi 100% selama 6 jam pada propagul mangrove (Rhizophora mucronata) memberikan hasil yang berpengaruh nyata terhadap parameter pengamatan diameter batang, jumlah akar dan panjang akar. Perlakuan pemberian pupuk NPK 15-15-15 memiliki hasil yang berpengaruh nyata terhadap parameter waktu pecah pucuk, waktu muncul daun, jumlah daun 6 MST, tinggi semai 6 mst, diameter batang, panjang akar, dan jumlah akar. Perlakuan tingkat konsentrasi pupuk NPK terbaik didapati pada konsentrasi pupuk NPK sebesar 9 g/tanaman terhadap parameter pengamatan waktu muncul daun, panjang akar, dan jumlah akar. Terdapat interaksi antara perlakuan perendaman dengan pemberian pupuk NPK berpengaruh terhadap parameter pengamatan panjang akar.
