Abstract

Learning activities in schools still lack teachers in using learning media, students still like to play during learning, and teachers still use conventional methods in explaining material, which can lead to a lack of understanding of concepts in students. Based on these problems, researchers developed creative and interesting media, as well as game-based media in the form of monopoly media. Monopoly media is a game-based educational media to help students grow their understanding of concepts which are structured based on indicators of concept understanding. The aim of this research is to determine the design and describe the level of efficiency of monopoly media on the theme of my food being developed. The research method used is Research and Development (R&D) according to (Thiagarajan, 1974) which is limited to three stages, namely (1) Define, (2) Design, and (3) Develop. The results of the research are the design of the monopoly board media in the form of questions and information contained on the board and cards containing questions and information about my food which are arranged according to indicators of concept understanding. The monopoly media validation results from the validator were obtained at 92.11% in the "Very Valid" category. Meanwhile, the level of efficiency of monopoly media on the theme of my food for class VIII at SMP Cilegon obtained a result of 86.49% in the "Very Good" category so that media on monopoly can help students in growing their understanding of concepts in learning the theme of my food. With this media, it is hoped that it can help students grow their understanding of concepts on the theme of my food.

Additional Information: Kegiatan pembelajaran di sekolah guru masih kurang dalam menggunakan media pembelajaran, siswa masih suka bermain selama pembelajaran berlangsung, dan guru masih menggunakan metode konvensional dalam menjelaskan materi.sehingga dapat menimbulkan kurangnya pemahaman konsep pada siswa. Dari permasalahan tersebut, peneliti melakukan pengembangan media yang kreatif dan menarik, serta berbasis permainan berupa media monopoli. Media monopoli merupakan media edukatif berbasis permainan untuk membantu siswa dalam menumbuhkan pemahaman konsep yang di dalamnya disusun dengan berdasarkan indikator pemahaman konsep. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu mengetahui desain dan mendeskripsikan tingkat efisiensi media monopoli pada tema makananku yang dikembangkan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Research and Development (R&D) menurut (Thiagarajan, 1974) yang dibatasi menjadi tiga tahap yaitu (1) Define, (2) Design, dan (3) Develop. Hasil penelitian yaitu desain pada media papan monopoli berupa pertanyaan dan informasi yang terdapat pada board dan kartu berisi pertanyaan dan informasi tentang makananku yang disusun sesuai dengan indikator pemahaman konsep. Hasil validasi media monopoli dari validator diperoleh sebesar 92,11% dengan kategori “Sangat Valid”. Sedangkan, tingkat efisiensi media monopoli pada tema makananku untuk kelas VIII di SMP Cilegon memperoleh hasil 86,49% dengan kategori “Sangat Baik” sehingga media monopoli dapat membantu siswa dalam menumbuhkan pemahaman konsep pada pembelajaran tema makananku. Dengan adanya media ini diharapkan dapat membantu siswa dalam menumbuhkan pemahaman konsep pada tema makananku.
