Abstract

The research was conducted at SMP Negeri 1 Tunjung Teja, aims to determine the difference of influence the DRTA method and Guide Reading method on reading comprehension ability narrative text student class VII. The type of this research is quasi experimental with pretest-posttest control group design. The population of this research is class VII B as a class control dan VII C as class eksperimen. Data analysis technique to test the hypotesis using parametric statistic t-test whis is preceded by normality test, homogenity test, and linearity test. The result of the research show that there is a significant difference between the use of DRTA method and Guide Reading method on ability to read comprehension of narrative text in class VII SMP Negeri 1 Tunjung Teja. It can be proved from the result of paired sample test with reveal (α = 0,05) obtained thitung 2,65 > ttabel 1,67. The value of thitung > ttabel indicates that the reading comprehension ability of narrative text of the two group differed siginificantly. Based on the thitung > ttabel, it can be conclued that the DRTA method is beter or more effective than the Guide Reading method.

Additional Information:	Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SMP Negeri 1 Tunjung Teja, bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi perbedaan pengaruh antara penggunaan metode DRTA dengan metode Guided Reading terhadap kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa kelas VII. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian quasi experimental dengan desain Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 1 Tunjung Teja dan sampel yang digunakan yaitu kelas VII B dan VII C yang ditetapkan dengan teknik simple random samping. Teknik analisis data untuk menguji hipotesis adalah uji-t yang sebelumnya dilakukan uji persyaratan normalitas, homogenitas, dan linearitas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa adanya perbedaan pengaruh yang signifikan antara penggunaan metode DRTA dan metode Guide Reading terhadap kemampuan membaca pemahaman teks narasi siswa di kelas VII SMP Negeri 1 Tunjung Teja. Hal ini dapat dibuktikan dari hasil uji-t dua pihak dengan taraf nyata (α = 0,05) diperoleh thitung 2,65 > ttabel 1,67 Hasil thitung > ttabel menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan membaca pemahaman teks narasi kedua kelompok berbeda secara signifikan. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa metode DRTA lebih baik atau lebih memberikan pengaruh dibandingkan metode Guide Reading.
