Abstract

Mount Prakasak is a protected forest located in Batukuwung village, Padarincang district, Serang Regency, Banten Province which has the potential for geothermal energy to be used as electricity. This study aims to describe the rejection of the Padarincang community who are members of the SAPAR (Syarekat Perjuangan rakyat) alliance movement against the development of geothermal projects. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, with data collection through interviews, observation, and documentation. This research uses the theory of Sidney Tarrow which is in line with this conflict that a group of people forms alliances with figures or groups that have great influence to carry out a resistance against power holders or political elites. This research shows that the Padarincang community who are members of the SAPAR alliance reject the construction of geothermal projects because they can damage the preservation of nature. The community is worried that the construction of this project will cause a large loss to the community because they consider this project very dangerous and will have a negative impact on the surrounding community. Ecological damage due to geothermal exploration and exploitation activities that damage forests and is feared to cause significant natural damage that affects people's economic activities from the agricultural sector.

Additional Information:	Gunung Prakasak merupakan hutan lindung yang berada di desa Batukuwung, kecamatan Padarincang, Kabupaten Serang, Provinsi Banten yang memiliki potensi energi panas bumi untuk dimanfaatkan sebagai tenaga listrik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan penolakan masyarakat Padarincang yang tergabung dalam gerakan aliansi SAPAR (Syarekat Perjuangan rakyat) terhadap pembangunan proyek geothermal. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif, dengan pengumpulan data melalui wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori dari Sidney Tarrow yang sejalan dengan dengan konflik ini bahwa sekelompok masyarakat membentuk aliansi dengan para tokoh atau kelompok yang memiliki pengaruh besar untuk melakukan suatu perlawanan terhadap pemegang kekuasaan atau para elit poitik. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa masyarakat Padarincang yang tergabung dalam aliansi SAPAR menolak pembangunan proyek geothermal karena dapat merusak kelestarian alam. Masyarakat khawatir pembangunan proyek ini akan menimbulkan dampak kerugian yang besar bagi masyarakat karena mereka menilai proyek ini sangat berbahaya dan akan menimbulkan dampak negatif untuk masyarakat sekitar. Kerusakan ekologi akibat aktifitas eksplorasi dan eksploitasi panas bumi yang merusak hutan dan dikhawatirkan akan menimbulkan kerusakan alam yang signifikan yang berpengaruh terhadap kegiatan perekonomian rakyat dari sektor pertanian.
