Abstract
This research aimed to find out the speaking learning strategies commonly used and the difficulties of students' speaking learning strategies by students of 7th grade in SMPN 2 Kota Cilegon. This research used a qualitative method, particularly a case study. This research was conducted at SMPN 2 Kota Cilegon Academic year 2022/2023 the participants were 32 students. To collect the data, the researcher used a questionnaire, interview, and documentation. It was found that the commonly used speaking learning strategies among students in class 7D of SMPN 2 Kota Cilegon are metacognitive strategies from indirect strategies, with an average percentage of 27%, while memory strategies are the least used in learning speaking, with an average percentage of 8%. The difficulties of speaking learning strategies in speaking activities in the classroom were identified such as memorizing new vocabulary, pronunciation, constructing sentences, lack of confidence, and feeling embarrassed when speaking in front of others. Those statements were based on interview data. This indicates differences in the difficulties faced and the strategies used by students when learning to speak.

Additional Information: | Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui strategi pembelajaran berbicara yang biasa digunakan dan kesulitan strategi pembelajaran berbicara yang digunakan oleh siswa kelas 7 di SMPN 2 Kota Cilegon. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif, khususnya studi kasus. studi kasus. Penelitian ini dilakukan di SMPN 2 Kota Cilegon tahun ajaran 2022/2023 dengan jumlah partisipan sebanyak 32 siswa. Untuk mengumpulkan data, peneliti menggunakan kuesioner, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Ditemukan bahwa strategi pembelajaran berbicara yang umum strategi pembelajaran berbicara yang umum digunakan di antara siswa di kelas 7D SMPN 2 Kota Cilegon adalah strategi metakognitif dari strategi tidak langsung, dengan rata-rata persentase 27%, sedangkan strategi memori adalah yang paling sedikit digunakan dalam pembelajaran berbicara dengan persentase rata-rata 8%. Kesulitan-kesulitan strategi pembelajaran berbicara dalam kegiatan berbicara di kelas diidentifikasi seperti menghafal kosakata baru kosakata baru, pelafalan, menyusun kalimat, kurang percaya diri, dan merasa malu ketika berbicara di depan orang lain. Pernyataan-pernyataan tersebut didasarkan pada berdasarkan data wawancara. Hal ini menunjukkan adanya perbedaan kesulitan yang dihadapi dan strategi yang digunakan oleh siswa ketika belajar berbicara. | |||||||||
