Abstract

The research aims to describe numeracy literacy abilities of class VIII students in solving algebra problems based on Kolb learning style version 3.1. This research method uses qualitative descriptive with 53 students at SMP IT Alia Tangerang grade VIII as the research subjects. This research used numeracy literacy test instruments, Kolb learning style questionnaires, and interview guides. The research results show that divergent students learn through observation and concrete experience with a percentage of numeracy literacy ability of 53%. Divergent students get bored when studying long concepts. Students solve algebra problems by discussing with friends, brainstorming from various perspectives and imaginative abilities based on concrete situations on ideas and their realization so that the problem solver model can help students. Assimilated students learn through observing and thinking abstractly with a percentage of numeracy literacy ability of 58%. Assimilation students solve algebra problems by processing information based on mathematical ideas, strategies in calculating operations, and reflecting on learning. Discovery learning is a learning model that is in accordance with the character of assimilation student. Convergent students learn through action and abstract thinking with a percentage of numeracy literacy ability of 57%. Convergent students solve algebra problems with systematic planning, application and testing of information. A suitable learning model is learning that helps students explore, assess and interpret information, such as project based learning. Accommodation students learn through concrete actions and experiences with a percentage of numeracy literacy ability of 49%. Students do solve algebra problems by discussing with friends and experimenting on their own. The Inquiry learning learning model can make it easier for students to build real experiences and act in these activities.

Penelitian ini menggunakan instrumen tes literasi numerasi, angket gaya belajar Kolb, dan pedoman wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan siswa divergen belajar melalui pengamatan dan pengalaman konkret dengan persentase kemampuan literasi numerasi sebesar 53%. Siswa divergen mudah bosan saat mempelajari konsep yang panjang. Siswa menyelesaikan permasalahan aljabar dengan berdiskusi bersama teman, brainstorming dari berbagai perspektif dan kemampuan imajinatif berdasarkan situasi konkret pada ide dan implikasinya sehingga model problem solving dapat membantu siswa. Siswa asimilasi belajar melalui pengamatan dan berpikir abstrak dengan persentase kemampuan literasi numerasi sebesar 58%. Siswa asimilasi menyelesaikan permasalahan aljabar dengan mengolah informasi berdasarkan ide matematika, strategi dalam operasi hitung, serta merefleksikan pembelajaran. Discovery learning adalah model pembelajaran yang sesuai dengan karakter siswa asimilasi. Siswa konvergen belajar melalui tindakan dan berpikir abstrak dengan persentase kemampuan literasi numerasi sebesar 57%. Siswa konvergen menyelesaikan permasalahan aljabar dengan perencanaan sistematis, penerapan dan uji informasi. Model pembelajaran yang cocok adalah pembelajaran yang membantu siswa mengeksplorasi, menilai, dan menginterpretasi informasi seperti pembelajaran project based learning. Siswa akomodasi belajar melalui tindakan dan pengalaman konkret dengan persentase kemampuan literasi numerasi sebesar 49%. Siswa akomodasi menyelesaikan permasalahan aljabar dengan diskusi bersama teman dan uji coba sendiri. Model pembelajaran Inquiry learning yang dikerjakan secara berkelompok dapat mempermudah siswa membangun pengalaman konkret dan bertindak dalam kegiatan tersebut.
