Abstract

This research has its goals to find out what students have experienced in remote learning and additionally to find out what most of the students applied in their learning style in 8th-semesters of the English department at the University of Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa. The researcher used qualitative research with thematic analysis as the data analysis technique. Open questionnaires and interviews as the instrument to gather the needed data. The subject in this research is the 8th-semester student of the University of Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa, 40 student report has been recorded. Based on the report the researcher discovered that most students experience more unsatisfied than satisfied with remote learning. Even with unsatisfied experience mostly reported, the student still gained a satisfactory experience with remote learning. Based on the data student mostly applied a “visual” learning style in their learning, students are able to gain better perception in learning by seeing a video that has a use to give a better understanding in an enjoyable way. In light the finding, the researcher suggest to use the findings as references material for improving a remote learning system.

Additional Information:	Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengalaman mahasiswa dalam pembelajaran jarak jauh dan juga untuk mengetahui gaya belajar apa yang diterapkan sebagian besar mahasiswa pada semester 8 jurusan Bahasa Inggris Universitas Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa. Peneliti menggunakan penelitian kualitatif dengan analisis tematik sebagai teknik analisis datanya. Kuesioner terbuka dan wawancara sebagai instrumen untuk mengumpulkan data yang dibutuhkan. Subyek dalam penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa semester 8 Universitas Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa, rapor mahasiswa yang tercatat sebanyak 40 orang. Berdasarkan laporan tersebut peneliti menemukan bahwa sebagian besar siswa lebih merasa tidak puas dibandingkan puas dengan pembelajaran jarak jauh. Bahkan dengan pengalaman yang tidak memuaskan yang banyak dilaporkan, siswa masih memperoleh pengalaman yang memuaskan dengan pembelajaran jarak jauh. Berdasarkan data siswa sebagian besar menerapkan gaya belajar “visual” dalam pembelajarannya, siswa dapat memperoleh persepsi yang lebih baik dalam belajar dengan melihat video yang berguna untuk memberikan pemahaman yang lebih baik dengan cara yang menyenangkan. Sehubungan dengan temuan tersebut, peneliti menyarankan untuk menggunakan temuan tersebut sebagai bahan referensi untuk perbaikan sistem pembelajaran jarak jauh.
