Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of several varieties and doses of biochar on the growth and yield of sweet corn plants (Zea mays subsp. mays L.). This research is an experimental study. This research has been carried out from November 2022 to February 2023, located in Bulakan Village, Gunung Kencana District, Lebak Regency, Banten Province. The cultivation zone is located at coordinates 6°38'26.2"S 106°01'34.9"E with an altitude of 182 meters above sea level. This study used Factorial RAK. Variety as the first factor with levels, V1 (Bonanza F1), V2 (Talenta), V3 (Sweet boy), and biochar dose as the second factor with doses P1 (1.75 kg/plot), P2 (3.5 kg/plot), and P3 (5.25 kg/plot). The best variety is the Sweet boy variety which has the best influence on plant height growth of 10 WAP (week after planting) 126.70 cm, and also gives the best results on the parameters of cob length 23.10 cm, cob diamètre of 50.25 cm, cob weight of 171.33 g, weight cob without the husks of 158.60 g, and yield power of 5,969.33 kg/ha. The dose of biochar with 15 tons/ha had the best effect on the cob diamètre of 47.62 mm, the weight of the cob was 162.08 g, and the weight of the cob without the cob was 154.56 g. There is an interaction between several varieties and also the dose of biochar on plant growth, namely on the parameters of sweet corn plant height 10 WAP (week after planting) on treatment V1P2 146,10 cm, and flowering time on treatment V1P3 53,46, V3P3 52,98. In the result component there is an interaction on the diameter parameter of the cob pada on treatment V3P3 50,25 mm.

Additional Information:	Jagung manis (Zea mays subsp. mays L.) merupakan salah satu tanaman yang disukai dan banyak dikonsumsi oleh masyarakat karena memiliki rasa yang enak dan lebih manis daripada jagung biji biasa. Kebutuhan jagung di Indonesia terus mengalami peningkatan tiap tahunnya, namun produksi jagung terus menurun setiap tahunnya. Namun permasalahan yang sering terjadi pada lahan jagung yaitu keringnya tanah dan tingkat kemasaman yang tinggi. Varietas unggul yang ideal adalah berdaya hasil tinggi, tahan hama penyakit utama. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen yang dilakukan di Desa Bulakan, Kecamatan Gunung Kencana, Kabupaten Lebak, Provinsi Banten. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh beberapa varietas dan dosis biochar terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman jagung manis (Zea mays subsp. mays L.). penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan November 2022 sampai Februari 2023. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) yang terdiri dari dua faktor. Faktor pertama yaitu jenis varietas V1 (Bonanza F1), V2 (Talenta), dan V3(Sweet boy). Faktor kedua yaitu dosis biochar dengan dosis P1 (1,75 kg/petak), P2 (3,5 kg/petak), dan P3 (5,25 kg/petak). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa varietas sweet boy memberikan hasil terbaik pada parameter tinggi tanaman 10 MST 126,70 cm, Panjang tongkol 23,10 cm, diameter tongkol 50,25 cm, bobot tongkol berkelobot 71.33 g, bobot tongkol tanpa kelebot 158,60 g, dan daya hasil sebesar 5.969,33 kg/ha. Faktor kedua yaitu dosis biochar dengan 15 ton/ha memberikan pengaruh terbaik terhadap diameter tongkol 47,62 mm, bobot tongkol berkelobot 162,08 g, dan bobot tongkol tanpa kelobot 154,56 g. Dari kedua faktor tersebut maka disimpulkan bahwa V3P3 memberikan hasil terbaik pada pertumbahan dan hasil tanaman jagung manis (Zea mays subsp. mays L.).
