Abstract

Student ability is measured from students' understanding of the material taught by the teacher, students can work on questions/answer questions depending on how much students' ability to understand the material. The purpose of this study was to analyze students' mathematical communication skills using indicators, namely written text, drawings, and mathematical expressions. The type of research used is descriptive qualitative research. The research instrument was in the form of mathematical communication ability test questions, namely test questions given in the form of 3 (three) essay questions. Communication ability is an important part of mathematics, because it is a tool in transmitting mathematical knowledge or as a foundation in building mathematical knowledge. There are several common factors that affect the level of students' mathematical communication skills, including students who find it difficult to give reasons for their answers, students still find it difficult to make pictures and express everyday events into language or mathematical symbols. In addition, self-confidence is also an important aspect in learning mathematics.

Additional Information: Kemampuan siswa diukur dari pemahaman siswa terhadap materi yang diajarkan oleh guru, siswa dapat mengerjakan soal/menjawab soal-soal tergantung dari seberapa besar kemampuan siswa memahami materi tersebut. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa dengan menggunakan indikator, yaitu written text, drawing, dan mathematical expression. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Instrumen penelitian berupa soal tes kemampuan komunikasi matematis, yaitu soal tes yang diberikan berupa 3 (tiga) soal uraian. Kemampuan komunikasi merupakan salah satu bagian penting dalam matematika, karena merupakan alat bantu dalam transmisi pengetahuan matematika atau sebagai pondasi dalam membangun pengetahuan matematika. Terdapat beberapa faktor yang sama yang mempengaruhi tingkat kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa diantaranya siswa masih sulit untuk memberikan alasan untuk jawabannya, siswa masih sulit membuat gambar dan mengekspresikan peristiwa sehari-hari ke dalam bahasa atau simbol matematik. Selain itu, kepercayaan diri juga merupakan salah satu aspek penting dalam pembelajaran matematika.
