Abstract

Short story writing skills are often one of the skills that are difficult and less attractive to students. As a result, many students do not focus on writing short stories well. The purpose of this study is to describe the effect of wordwall application, the effect of kahoot application and the difference in the effect of wordwall and kahoot application media on short story writing skills of grade XI students of MAN 2 Cilegon City. This study used an experimental method with a quantitative approach with a pretest posttest control group design. The sampling technique used simple random sampling technique. XI Linguistics class was chosen as the experimental class and XI Multimedia as the control class. The research data is in the form of student performance sheets in short story writing skills given on pretest and posttest. The results showed that the effect of wordwall application media obtained an average pretest score of 66,21 and a posttest score of 83,79. Then the effect of kahoot application media obtained an average pretest score of 66,11 and a posttest score of 75,39, the results of the posttest assessment showed that the wordwall application media was superior with a difference of 8,4 points. It is concluded that the wordwall application media is superior to the kahoot application media on short story writing skills. Additional Information: Keterampilan menulis cerpen kerap sekali menjadi salah satu keterampilan yang sulit dan kurang diminati oleh siswa. Imbasnya banyak siswa tidak fokus dalam menulis cerpen dengan baik. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mendeskripsikan pengaruh aplikasi wordwall, pengaruh aplikasi kahoot serta perbedaan pengaruh media aplikasi wordwall dan kahoot terhadap keterampilan menulis cerpen siswa kelas XI MAN 2 Kota Cilegon. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen dengan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain pretest posttest control group design. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik simple random sampling. Terpilih kelas XI Linguistik sebagai kelas eksperimen dan XI Multimedia sebagai kelas kontrol. Data penelitian berupa lembar unjuk kerja siswa dalam keterampilan menulis cerpen yang diberikan pada pretest dan posttest. Dari hasil penelitian menunjukan pengaruh media aplikasi wordwall memperoleh nilai rata-rata pretest 66,21 dan nilai posttest 83,79. Kemudian pengaruh media aplikasi kahoot memperoleh nilai rata-rata pretest 66,11 dan nilai posttest 75,39, hasil penilaian posttest menunjukan bahwa media aplikasi wordwall lebih unggul dengan selisih 8,4 point. Disimpulkan bahwa media aplikasi wordwall ternyata lebih unggul dibandingkan dengan media aplikasi kahoot terhadap keterampilan menulis cerpen.
