Abstract
Amalia Dwi Sahara. 2288190015. SEUAT MACHETE CRAFT TRADITION AS A CULTURAL IDENTITY FOR SEUAT JAYA VILLAGE, PETIR DISTRICT, SERANG REGENCY IN 2009-2019. Advisor I : Dr. Moh. Ali Fadillah, DEA. Advisor II : Rikza Fauzan M. Pd. Examiner: Tubagus Umar Syarif Hadi Wibowo, M. Pd. Thesis: Department of History Education, Undergraduate Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University. This study aims to describe a general description of the formation of the Golok Seuat craft tradition and describe the socio-cultural life of the people of Seuat Jaya Village and the efforts made by the community in preserving the Golok Seuat craft tradition from 2009-2019, and also to describe the characteristics and values and functions that contained in Golok Seuat. This research was conducted from November 2022 – June 2023. The research method used is the historical research method which consists of four stages, namely; Heuristics, Criticism, Interpretation and Historiography. The results of this study reveal that the Seuat Golok craft tradition began when the pande and machete craftsmen were forced to retreat by the colonial government and chose to make machetes secretly, and one of their hiding places was the Seuat Jaya region. The relationship between the people of Seuat Jaya and Golok Seuat has been going on from the past until now so that it has become the cultural identity of the people of Seuat Jaya Village, this is what then makes the people of Seuat Jaya Village strive to continue to preserve the Golok Seuat craft tradition. What characterizes the Seuat Golok is the Kopak Dawing type of machete, which is known as the Jawara machete. Keywords: Seuat Machete, Culture Identity , Tradition.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan gambaran umum mengenai terbentuknya tradisi kerajinan Golok Seuat dan mendeskripsikan kehidupan sosial budaya masyarakat Desa Seuat Jaya serta upaya yang dilakukan masyarakat dalam melestarikan tradisi kerajinan Golok Seuat sejak tahun 2009-2019, dan juga untuk mendeskripsikan ciri khas serta nilai dan fungsi yang terkandung didalam Golok Seuat. Penelitian ini dilakukan mulai dari November 2022 – Juni 2023. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian historis yang terdiri dari empat tahap yaitu; Heuristik, Kritik, Interpretasi dan Historiografi. Hasil dari penelitian ini mengungkapkan bahwa tradisi kerajinan Golok Seuat dimulai ketika para pande dan pengrajin golok dipaksa mundur oleh pemerintah kolonial dan memilih untuk membuat golok secara sembunyi-sembunyi, dan salah satu tempat persembunyiannya adalah wilayah Seuat Jaya. Hubungan antara masyarakat Seuat Jaya dan Golok Seuat telah berlangsung dari dulu hingga kini sehingga menjadi identitas budaya dari masyarakat Desa Seuat Jaya, hal inilah yang kemudian membuat masyarakat Desa Seuat Jaya berupaya untuk terus melestarikan tradisi kerajinan Golok Seuat. Adapun yang menjadi ciri khas Golok Seuat adalah golok jenis Kopak Dawing yang dijuluki sebagai golok jawara. Kata Kunci : Golok Seuat, Identitas Budaya, Tradisi. | |||||||||
