Abstract

Sweet corn is one of the food diversifications to replace the role of Indonesia's staple food rice. Declining soil fertility needs to be improved by applying doses of NPK Phonska fertilizer and plant spacing. The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of NPK fertilizer and plant spacing and their interaction on the growth and production of sweet corn (Zea mays subsp. mays L.) Bonanza variety. The experimental design used in this study was a Randomized Block Design consisting of 2 factors, Factor 1: the dose of NPK fertilizer 500 kg/ha or 150g/plot, the dose of NPK fertilizer 450 kg/ha or 135g/plot, and the dose of NPK fertilizer 400 kg/ha or 120g/plot. Factor 2 : 75 cm x 30 cm spacing, 75 cm x 40 cm spacing, and 75 cm x 50 cm spacing. The results showed that the NPK 15-10-12 dose of 500 kg/ha or 150 g/plot produced the best results for the growth and production of sweet corn. Especially on the weight of cobs with husks per plant (997.86 g) and the number of seeds per cob (856.81 grains). Plant spacing (75 x 50 cm) gave the best results on sweet corn yields, especially on the weight of cobs without husk per plant (790.78 g), and the yield per plot (5.25 kg/3m2 or 17,5 ton/ha). There was an interaction between the NPK fertilizer dose of 500 kg/ha or 150 g/plot and plant spacing (75 x 50 cm) on the dry weight of shelled corn per cob. The average of these interactions is 246.33 g.

Additional Information:	Jagung memiliki kandungan karbohidrat dan gizi yang tinggi sehingga dimanfaatkan dalam diversifikasi pangan untuk menggantikan peran makanan pokok masyarakat Indonesia yaitu beras. Tingginya permintaan pasar jagung manis setiap tahunnya dan turunnya produksi jagung dari tahun ke tahun, karena adanya degradasi lahan yang mengakibatkan kesuburan tanah menurun. Untuk memperbaiki kesuburan tanah perlakuan dosis pupuk NPK Phonska 15:10:12 dan jarak tanam mampu memperbaiki produksi jagung manis. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui dosis pupuk NPK terbaik, serta jarak tanam terbaik untuk jagung manis untuk meningkatkan produksi jagung manis. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Februari sampai Mei 2023. Rancangan Percobaan yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) yang terdiri dari 2 faktor, Faktor 1 yaitu : dosis pupuk NPK Phonska 500 kg/ha atau 150g/petak (D1), dosis pupuk NPK Phonska 450 kg/ha atau 135g/petak (D2), dan dosis pupuk NPK Phonska 400 kg/ha atau 120g/petak (D3). Faktor 2 yaitu: jarak tanam 75 cm x 30 cm (J1), jarak tanam 75 cm x 40 cm (J2), dan jarak tanam 75 cm x 50 cm (J3). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan perlakuan dosis NPK 15-10-12 sebanyak 500 kg/ha atau 150 g/petak menghasilkan hasil terbaik terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil produksi jagung manis. Terutama pada berat tongkol dengan kelobot per tanaman (997,86 g) dan jumlah biji per tongkol (856,81 butir). Jarak tanam (75 x 50 cm) memberikan hasil terbaik terhadap hasil panen jagung manis terutama pada berat tongkol tanpa kelobot per tanaman (790,78 g), dan hasil produksi perpetak (5.25 kg/3m2 atau 17,5 ton/ha). Terdapat interaksi antara dosis pupuk NPK 500 kg/ha atau 150 g/petak dan jarak tanam (75 x 50 cm) pada berat kering jagung pipilan per tongkol. Rata-rata dari interaksi tersebut yaitu 246,33 g.
