Abstract
Campus introduction activities are activities to prepare new students to go through the transition to becoming mature and independent students and to provide provisions to support success in pursuing education, violence in campus introduction activities is not something new, PKKMB activities at Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University in 2022 have become a hot topic at national news media, one of the news media namely Prambors radio broadcasts news related to the violence that occurred at the UNTIRTA PKKMB activities. Based on this, the researcher was motivated to explain the meaning of the head of the student association majoring in violence at the campus introduction activity on Prambors radio. This type of research is qualitative with reception analysis using the Hall model, 7 research informants were selected as student leaders in responding to cases of violence that occurred at UNTIRTA which were broadcast by Prambors radio, this study showed the results that the interpretation that the audience gave in interpreting the message the media from Prambors radio related to violence during campus introduction activities is spread in three positions of meaning, namely dominant, negotiated and oppositional.

| Additional Information: | Kegiatan pengenalan kampus merupakan kegiatan untuk menyiapkan mahasiswa baru melewati transisi menjadi mahasiswa dewasa dan mandiri serta memberikan bekal untuk menunjang keberhasilan dalam menempuh pendidikan, kekerasan pada kegiatan pengenalan kampus bukan sesuatu hal yang baru, kegiatan PKKMB Universitas Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa pada tahun 2022 menjadi bahasan hangat di media pemberitaan nasional, salah satu media pemberitaan yaitu Prambors radio menyiarkan berita terkait kekerasan yang terjadi pada kegiatan PKKMB UNTIRTA. Berdasarkan hal tersebut peneliti terdorong untuk melakukan menjelaskan pemaknaan ketua himpunan mahasiswa jurusan tentang kekerasan pada kegiatan pengenalan kampus di Prambors radio. Jenis penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan analisis resepsi dengan model Hall, informan penelitian berjumlah 7 orang yang dipilih sebagai pemimpin dari mahasiswa dalam menanggapi kasus kekerasan yang terjadi di UNTIRTA yang disiarkan oleh Prambors radio, penelitian ini menunjukan hasil bahwa interpretasi yang khalayak berikan dalam memaknai pesan media dari Prambors radio terkait kekerasan pada kegiatan pengenalan kampus tersebar dalam tiga posisi pemaknaan yaitu dominant, negotiated dan opposional. | |||||||||
