Abstract

The objective of the research was to find out the effect of annotation strategy toward the students reading comprehension on Narrative text at students of the eight grade of SMPN 7 Kota Tangerang. The subject of this research were divided into two classes that chosen by non random sampling type of convenience sampling. This study used quasi-experimental design using nonequivalent pre-test and post-test designs. In collecting the data. test was used. The test was given twice to experimental and control groups. as a pre-test and post-test. To verify the hypotheses of the pre-test and post-test of the experimental and control groups. the data were analyzed by using independent sample T-test. The result of T-test showed that there were significant differences between those classes. and the result showed that tcount was 3.35 while the ttable was 1.67. it means that tcount ≥ ttable. It could be seen that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and the null hypothesis (H0)was rejected. This study suggests that the annotation strategy can make students more enthusiastic in learning and can increase interest in reading skills. It is recommended for teachers to use annotation strategies to help students understand reading texts and stimulate their analytical skills.

Additional Information: Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh strategi anotasi terhadap pemahaman membaca siswa pada teks naratif pada siswa kelas VIII SMPN 7 Kota Tangerang. kelas VIII SMPN 7 Kota Tangerang. Subjek penelitian ini dibagi menjadi dua kelas yang dipilih secara non random sampling jenis convenience sampling. Penelitian ini Penelitian ini menggunakan desain kuasi eksperimen dengan menggunakan desain nonequivalent pre-test and post-test desain nonequivalent pre-test and post-test. Dalam pengumpulan data digunakan tes. Tes diberikan sebanyak dua kali kepada kelompok eksperimen dan kelompok kontrol, yaitu sebagai pre-test dan post-test. Untuk memverifikasi hipotesis dari pre-test dan post-test kelompok eksperimen dan kelompok kontrol. data dianalisis dengan menggunakan independent sample T-test. Hasil uji-t menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara kedua kelas tersebut. bahwa thitung sebesar 3,35 sedangkan ttabel sebesar 1,67. Artinya thitung ≥ ttabel. Hal ini dapat dilihat bahwa hipotesis alternatif (Ha) diterima dan hipotesis nol (H0) ditolak. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa strategi anotasi dapat membuat siswa lebih antusias dalam belajar dan dapat meningkatkan minat dalam keterampilan membaca. Hal ini direkomendasikan bagi guru untuk menggunakan strategi anotasi untuk membantu siswa memahami memahami teks bacaan dan merangsang kemampuan analisis mereka.
