Abstract

During the learning activities, the teacher realized that the vocabulary possessed by the students was still low. This causes students to have difficulty in writing skills. This study aims to determine the effect of vocabulary mastery on the ability to write descriptive essays of 3rd grade students of SDN 7 Serang City. The research method uses descriptive quantitative. The independent variable in this study is vocabulary mastery, while the dependent variable is the ability to write descriptive essays. The results of the calculation to determine the effect of vocabulary mastery on the ability to write descriptive essays in grade 3 students at SDN 7 Serang City stated that it was significant. In this study, the correlation test for the X variable was obtained by Fcount > from Ftable or 1.76 > 1.68, so Ho was rejected. The conclusion of this study is the influence of vocabulary mastery on the ability to write descriptive essays of students. Researchers suggest the school to increase students' interest in reading so that students' vocabulary mastery increases and can increase students' interest in writing essays.

Additional Information: Selama kegiatan pembelajaran berlangsung guru menyadari bahwa pembendaharaan kosakata yang dimiliki peserta didik masih rendah. Hal tersebut menyebabkan peserta didik kesulitan dalam kemampuan menulis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penguasaan kosakata terhadap kemampuan menulis karangan deskripsi peserta didik kelas 3 SDN 7 Kota Serang. Metode penelitian mengunakan kuantitatif deskriptif. Variabel bebas dalam penelitian ini adalah penguasaan kosakata sedangkan variabel terikatnya adalah kemampuan menulis karangan deskripsi. Hasil perhitungan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penguasaan kosakata terhadap kemampuan menulis karangan deskripsi pada peserta didik kelas 3 SDN 7 Kota Serang menyatakan signifikan. Dalam penelitian ini, uji korelasi variabel X diperoleh Fhitung > dari Ftabel atau 1,76 > 1,68 maka Ho ditolak. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah adanya pengaruh antara penguasaan kosakata terhadap kemampuan menulis karangan deskripsi peserta didik. Peneliti menyarankan pihak sekolah untuk meningkatkan minat peserta didik dalam membaca agar penguasaan kosakata peserta didik semakin bertambah dan dapat meningkatkan minat peserta didik dalam menulis karangan.
