Abstract

The lack of students' understanding of the science learning concept causes students to experience difficulties and represents the problem of natural phenomena that are being discussed so that it makes students' critical thinking skills low in solving the problems they face. The existence of an interactive learning model can be a solution to this problem. This study aims to analyze the influence of the Group Investigation (GI) learning model to improve the critical thinking skills of class VII students on Water Pollution Material. The research method used is the Quasy Experiment method which was carried out on class VII students of SMP Negeri 16 Kota Serang. In measuring students' critical thinking skills, it was carried out using a written test instrument in the form of essay questions according to indicators of critical thinking skills that had been adjusted as many as 10 items that had gone through the validity and reliability stages. Based on the results of research using two class groups, namely the experimental class using the Group Investigation (GI) learning model and the control class using the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model where the results of both are normally distributed but not homogeneous. Furthermore, hypothesis testing was carried out using the Independent Sample T-Test based on the N-Gain value to obtain the results of a significant influence on the Group Investigation (GI) learning model on the critical thinking skills of class VII students. Based on the calculation results, the sig (2-tailed) rcount value is 0.001 < rtable, which is 0.05 so it can be concluded that H1 is accepted and H0 is rejected, which means that there is an influence of the Group Investigation (GI) Learning Model to Improve Critical Thinking Ability of Grade 7th Students on material Water Pollution.

Additional Information: Kurangnya pemahaman siswa terhadap konsep pembelajaran IPA yang menyebabkan siswa mengalami kesulitan dan merepresentasikan permasalahan fenomena alam yang sedang dibahas sehingga menjadikan rendahnya kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa dalam memecahkan permasalahan yang dihadapi. Adanya model pembelajaran yang interaktif dapat menjadi solusi dari permasalah tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh model pembelajaran Group Investigation (GI) untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa kelas VII pada Materi Polusi Air. Metode Penelitian yang digunakan yaitu metode Quasy Experiment yang dilakukan pada siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 16 Kota Serang. Dalam mengukur kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa dilakukan dengan menggunakan instrumen tes tertulis dalam bentuk soal uraian sesuai dengan indikator kemampuan berpikir kritis yang telah disesuaikan sebanyak 10 butir soal yang telah melalui tahap validitas dan reliabilitas. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang menggunakan dua kelompok kelas yaitu kelas eksperimen menggunakan model pembelajaran Group Investigation (GI) dan kelas kontrol menggunakan model Problem Based Learning (PBL) dimana hasil dari keduanya berdistribusi normal namun tidak homogen. Selanjutnya dilakukan pengujian hipotesis dengan menggunakan Independent Sample T-Test berdasarkan nilai N-Gain mendapatkan hasil adanya pengaruh yang signifikan pada model pembelajaran Group Investigation (GI) terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa kelas VII. Berdasarkan hasil perhitungan diperoleh nilai rhitung sig (2-tailed) yaitu 0,001 < rtabel yaitu 0,05 sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa H1 diterima dan H0 ditolak yang artinya terdapat pengaruh Model Pembelajaran Group Investigation (GI) untuk Meningkatkan Kemampuan Berpikir Kritis Siswa Kelas VII pada materi Polusi Air.
