Abstract

This research is motivated by the existence of student misconceptions found in the material of hydrocarbons. This study aims to produce a valid and reliable four-tier diagnostic test instrument so that it can determine the level of students' understanding of the material on hydrocarbons. In this study using the R&D (Research and Development) method with the 4D model up to the Development stage. At the Define stage, the researcher analyzed the concept, conducted a literature review, and mapped the concept. At the Design stage, the determination of hydrocarbon material and the determination of indicators of competency achievement based on KD K13 is carried out. In the Development stage, a trial phase was carried out using 20 reasoned multiple choice questions, then developed into two-tier questions, which were then validated by 5 experts. Of the 20 valid questions, the researcher conducted a limited field trial using questions that had been developed into a four-tier. After obtaining the results of the trial, data processing was carried out by testing the validity of the items, reliability, discriminatory power, and level of difficulty. The results obtained were at the level of conception on the concept of hydrocarbons, namely as many as 34.86% of students experienced misconceptions or concepts that were not in accordance with correct scientific principles, 34.38% of students understood the concept, and as many as 30.77% of students did not understand the concept.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh adanya miskonsepsi siswa yang terdapat pada materi hidrokarbon. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan instrument tes diagnostic four-tier yang valid dan reliabel sehingga dapat mengetahui tingkat pemahaman siswa pada materi hidrokarbon. Pada penelitian ini menggunakan metode R&D (Research and Development) dengan model 4D sampai tahap Develompment. Pada tahap Define, peneliti menganalisis konsep, melakukan kajian literatur, dan melakukan pemetaan dari konsep. Pada tahap Design, dilakukan penentuan materi hidrokarbon dan penentuan indikator pencapaian kompetensi berdasarkan KD K13. Pada tahap Development, dilakukan tahap uji coba menggunakan 20 butir soal pilihan ganda beralasan, kemudian dikembangkan menjadi soal two-tier, yang selanjutnya divalidasi oleh 5 orang ahli. Dari 20 butir soal yang sudah valid, peneliti melakukan uji coba lapangan secara terbatas menggunakan soal yang sudah dikembangkan menjadi four-tier. Setelah didapatkan hasil dari uji coba tersebut , dilakukan olah data dengan menguji validitas butir soal, reliabilitas, daya beda, dan tingkat kesukaran. Didapatkan hasil sebesar tingkat konsepsi pada konsep hidrokarbon yaitu sebanyak 34,86% siswa mengalami miskonsepsi atau konsep yang tidak sesuai dengan kaidah ilmiah yang benar, 34,38% siswa memahami konsep, dan sebanyak 30,77% siswa tidak memahami konsep.
