Abstract

Student misconceptions about simple harmonic movements can hinder the process of understanding concepts for further learning, such as waves, sounds, reverse electric currents, and light. This research aims to analyze the difficulties of understanding concepts and the factors that are the root problems of the difficulty of understanding the concept of simple harmonic motion in students. This research method uses qualitative methods with qualitatively descriptive designs. The research was carried out by providing a written double-choice test of 20 questions with an open reason given to 59 students of the 4th semester of Physical Education Untirta as well as interviews with 10 students selected based on grade categories. The results of the study show that under 54% of the students' ability to understand concepts belongs to the very lowest category. The difficulty experienced by the student in understanding simple harmonic motion is that the student has difficulty interpreting the relationship between acceleration and movement, explaining the concept of velocity and acceleration and kinetic energy in graphs or other forms, providing examples of application in everyday life, concluding or comparing the verbal or pegasus of several correct and false statements, explaining the differences between simple harmonic motion graphs and wave graphs, describing the distance of the amplitude point and the total distance of a full vibration, and having difficulty describing factors that can influence the period and frequency of simple harmonic motion. The results showed that there were difficulties for students in understanding the concept of simple harmonic motion. Keywords: Simple Harmonic Motion, Difficulty Understanding Concepts.

Additional Information: Miskonsepsi mahasiswa pada gerak harmonik sederhana dapat menghambat proses pemahaman konsep pada pembelajaran lebih lanjut seperti gelombang, suara, arus listrik bolak-balik, dan cahaya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kesulitan pemahaman konsep dan faktor-faktor yang menjadi akar permasalahan sulitnya memahami konsep gerak harmonik sederhana pada mahasiswa. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan desain deskriptif kualitatif. Penelitian dilakukan dengan memberikan tes tertulis berupa pilihan ganda sebanyak 20 soal dengan alasan terbuka diberikan kepada 59 mahasiswa semester 4 Pendidikan Fisika Untirta serta wawancara terhadap 10 mahasiswa yang dipilih berdasarkan kategori nilai. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kemampuan pemahaman konsep mahasiswa kurang dari 54% yang berada pada kategori kurang sekali. Kesulitan yang dialami oleh mahasiswa dalam memahami gerak harmonik sederhana yaitu mahasiswa sulit dalam menafsirkan hubungan antara percepatan dan perpindahan, menjelaskan konsep kecepatan dan percepatan serta energi kinetik pada grafik ataupun pada bentuk lain, memberikan contoh penerapan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, menyimpulkan atau membandingkan antara bandul maupun pegas dari beberapa pernyataan yang benar dan salah, menjelaskan perbedaan grafik gerak harmonik sederhana dengan grafik gelombang, menjelasakan jarak titik amplitudo dan jarak total satu getaran penuh, dan kesulitan dalam menjelaskan faktor-faktor yang dapat mempengaruhi periode dan frekuensi gerak harmonik sederhana. Faktor-faktor penyebab kesulitan mahasiswa dalam memahami konsep gerak harmonik sederhana ditemukan baik internal maupun eksternal. Dari hasil tersebut menunjukkan bahwa terdapat kesulitan mahasiswa dalam memahami konsep gerak harmonik sederhana. Kata Kunci: Gerak Harmonik Sederhana, Kesulitan Pemahaman Konsep.
