Abstract
Understanding concepts is the basis of learning that will later be applied to solve a problem. This research aims to analyze the difficulties experienced by students in understanding the concept of one-dimensional movement and the factors that cause problems for students. This research uses a qualitative method with a qualitative descriptive design. The study was conducted on 71 students in the 5th semester of Physics Education at Untirta by giving a written test in the form of multiple choice questions with 20 questions along with open reasons and interviews with 10 students selected based on value categories. The research results show that the average student's ability to understand concepts is less than 54%, which is in the inferior category. Difficulties experienced by students in understanding the concept of one-dimensional motion include students having difficulty interpreting the factors that influence free fall motion, students having difficulty giving examples of motion with constant acceleration, and also students having difficulty summarizing an event related to the concept of acceleration, students having difficulty in concluding the correct statement regarding the motion of falling objects in free fall. Causative factors were found from both internal and external factors. These results show that students still have many difficulties in understanding the concept of one-dimensional motion. Additional Information: | Dasar pembelajaran yang nantinya akan diterapkan untuk memecahkan suatu massalah adalah pemahaman konsep. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kesulitan yang dialami mahasiswa dalam memahami konsep gerak satu dimensi beserta faktor penyebab kesulitan pada mahasiswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan desain deskriptif kualitatif. Penelitian dilakukan kepada 71 mahasiswa semester 5 Pendidikan Fisika Untirta dengan memberikan tes tertulis berupa pilihan ganda sebanyak 20 soal beserta alasan terbuka dan wawancara terhadap 10 mahasiswa yang dipilih berdasarkan kategori nilai. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan pemahaman konsep mahasiswa rata rata kurang dari 54% yang berada pada kategori kurang sekali. Kesulitan yang dialami oleh mahasiswa dalam memahami konsep gerak satu dimensi antara lain mahasiswa kesulitan dalam menafsirkan faktor yang mempengaruhi gerak jatuh bebas, mahasiswa kesulitan dalam memberi contoh gerak dengan percepatan konstan dan juga mahasiswa mengalami kesulitan dalam merangkum suatu peristiwa yang berkaitan dengan konsep percepatan, mahasiswa kesulitan dalam memnyimpulkan pernyataan yang benar terkait gerak jatuhnya benda pada gerak jatuh bebas . Faktor penyebab ditemukan baik dari faktor internal maupun eksternal. Dari hasil tersebut menunjukkan bahwa masih terdapat banyak kesulitan pada mahasiswa dalam memahami konsep gerak satu dimensi.
