Abstract

Every agency or organization has experienced a crisis. This condition can be a threat to every organization in maintaining its reputation. In August 2022, Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University went viral negatively due to the drying case carried out by BEM KBM Untirta in carrying out a series of PKKMB events. so that it is highlighted by many parties and gives rise to negative rumors which can result in a crisis and even a decline in its image. This research aims to describe the crisis phase carried out by Untirta stakeholder and describe the crisis response strategy carried out by Untirta. Researchers used a qualitative approach with a descriptive focus in their research. This in-depth interview method was used to interview Untirta Public Relations and stakeholder. There were 7 informants in this research, consisting of 5 main informants and 2 supporting informants. The researcher conducted research using the concept of crisis communication using the Situational Crisis Communication Theory (SCCT) theory by paying attention to the phases offered in the SCCT theory. The research results show that Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University uses 3 crisis phases, namely, Pre Crisis, by adhering to the PKKMB guidelines from the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Covid-19 Task Force directives. At the Crisis Event, give an official release to the media and door stop by appointing a spokesperson. Meanwhile, in the Post Crisis phase, Untirta carried out partnership activities with the media such as coffee mornings, media gatherings and journalistic visits. Apart from that, implementing a crisis response strategy by building and reinforcing a reputation that had been disrupted.

Additional Information: Setiap instansi maupun organisasi pasti pernah mengalami sebuah krisis. Kondisi ini dapat menjadi ancaman bagi setiap organisasi dalam menjaga reputasinya. Pada Bulan Agustus Tahun 2022, Universitas Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa menjadi viral secara negatif karena kasus penjemuran yang dilakukan oleh BEM KBM Untirta dalam menjalankan rangkaian acara PKKMB. sehingga disoroti oleh banyak pihak dan menimbulkan rumor secara negatif yang dapat mengakibatkan krisis hingga penurunan citra. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan fase krisis yang dilakukan stakeholders Untirta dan menggambarkan strategi respon krisis yang dilakukan Untirta. Peneliti menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan fokus deskriptif dalam penelitiannya, Metode indepth interview ini digunakan untuk mewawancarai Humas untirta dan stakeholder. narasumber dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 7 Orang terdiri 5 orang informan utama dan 2 informan pendukung. peneliti melakukan penelitian menggunakan konsep komunikasi krisis menggunakan teori Situational Crisis Communication Theory (SCCT) dengan memperhatikan fase yang ditawarkan dalam teori SCCT. Hasil penelitian menunjukan Universitas Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa menggunakan 3 Fase krisis yaitu, Pre Crisis, dengan menaati panduan PKKMB dari Kemendikbud dan Arahan Satgas Covid-19. Pada Crisis Event memberikan rilis resmi kepada media dan door stop dengan menunjuk spokeperson. Sedangkan pada fase Post Crisis untirta melakukan kegiatan kemitraan bersama media seperti coffee morning, media gathering dan kunjungan jurnalistik. selain itu melakukan strategi respon krisis dengan membangun dan penguatan kembali reputasi yang sempat terganggu.
