Abstract
he objective of this research is to analyze the types of illocutionary acts from utterances in the lyrics of songs in The Black Parade Album. This research is conducted by using a descriptive qualitative method. The data are collected from „The Black Parade‟ Album which are in the form of clauses, and sentences which comes from one lyric or combine lyrics. After being collected, the data is analyzed based on the theory of Illocutionary Act by Searle (1996) and Functions of Illocutionary Act by Leech (1983). This study shows that there are four categories of Illocutionary Act found in the song lyrics. They are Representative, Directive, Commissive, Expressive and Declarative. Representative act was found as the most dominant categories of Illocutionary Act with 27 data (38,6%), followed by directive with 26 data (37,1%), commissive with 13 data (18,6%), expressive with 2 data (2,9%), and declarative with also 2 data (2,9%). My Chemical Romance employs Representative act to deliver his ideas.
