Abstract

Students carry out activities related to the internet on a laboratory network every day. The use of the internet in the laboratory using a wireless hotspot requires a security system. Hotspots with a low level of security have the potential for data leaks. RADIUS or Remote Authentication Dial In User Service is a security protocol that can minimize illegal users entering a network, especially hotspots. The security method contained in RADIUS uses mechanisms (Authentication, Authorization, Accounting). The authentication mechanism uses the PAP system or Password Authentication Protocol accessed with a username and password. Successful use of the RADIUS protocol mechanism provides a security percentage of up to 95% when properly designed.

Additional Information: Mahasiswa sehari-hari melakukan kegiatan yang berkaitan dengan internet pada jaringan laboratorium. Penggunaan internet yang ada di laboratorium menggunakan hotspot wireless perlu adanya sistem keamanan. Hotspot dengan tingkat keamanan rendah berpotensi adanya kebocoran data. RADIUS atau Remote Autentication Dial In User Service merupakan salah satu protokol keamanan yang dapat meminimalisir adanya pengguna ilegal yang masuk ke dalam sebuah jaringan terutama pada hotspot. Metode keamanan yang terdapat pada RADIUS menggunakan mekanisme (Authentication, Authorization, Accounting). Mekanisme autentikasi menggunakan sistem PAP atau Password Authentication Protocol diakses dengan username dan password. Keberhasilan dalam menggunakan mekanisme protokol RADIUS memberikan presentase keamanan hingga 95% apabila dirancang dengan benar.
