Abstract
This study aims to find out the role of the teacher in developing the character of reading fondly in students in the 21st century. Specifically, the purpose of this study is to reveal the following: (1) to find out how the teacher's strategy is in developing the character of fond of reading in the 21st century learning, (2) to find out how the constraints the teacher has in developing the character of liking to read in the 21st century learning activities, (3) to find out how the impact of the learning method used given by the teacher to the character of students who like to read. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method. Researchers collected data using interview techniques, observation, and documentation. The place that became the research material was located at SDN 1 Selaraja, Warunggunung, especially the teachers and third grade students. The results of the study show that class III teachers at SDN 1 Selaraja can develop students' fond of reading characters to the fullest and can find out how to cultivate students' fond of reading characters in 21st century learning. Then through a discussion process that is adjusted to existing theoretical opinions, from the results of the research it can be concluded that class III teachers at SDN 1 Selaraja have a fairly good role in developing students' fond of reading character as a form of process of developing the character of liking to read in class III students.

Additional Information: | Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana peran guru dalam mengembangkan karakter gemar membaca pada peserta didik di abad 21. Secara khusus tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengungkapkan beberapa hal: (1)mengetahui bagaimana strategi guru dalam mengembangkan karakter gemar membaca pada pembelajaran abad 21, (2)mengetahui bagaimana kendala yang didapatkan guru dalam mengembangkan karakter gemar membaca pada kegiatan pembelajaran abad 21 dan, (3)mengetahui bagaimana dampak dari metode pembelajaran yang diberikan guru terhadap karakter gemar membaca peserta didik. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian berupa metode deskriptif kualitatif. Peneliti mengumpulkan data menggunakan teknik wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Tempat yang menjadi bahan penelitian ini terletak di SDN 1 Selaraja, Warunggunung, terkhusus guru dan peserta didik kelas III. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukan bahwa guru kelas III SDN 1 Selaraja dapat mengembangkan karakter gemar membaca peserta didik secara maksimal serta dapat mengetahui cara menumbuhkan karakter gemar membaca kepada peserta didik dalam pembelajaran abad 21. Melalui proses pembahasan yang disesuaikan dengan pendapat teori yang ada, hasil peneltian menunjukkan bahwasannya guru kelas III SDN 1 Selaraja memiliki peran yang cukup baik dalam mengembangkan karakter gemar membaca peserta didik sebagai bentuk proses pengembangan karakter gemar membaca pada peserta didik kelas III. | ||||||||||||
