Abstract
Hai Magazine, as one of the mass media, extensively covers news about music, commonly referred to as music journalism. In the 1980s, Indonesia was considered the golden era of Indonesian music. The purpose of this research is to understand how music is reported and the types of music articles published when viewed from the text dimension, discourse practice dimension, and sociocultural practice dimension in Hai Magazine during the 1980s era. This study employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The critical discourse analysis technique developed by Norman Fairclough is utilized, which combines three interconnected dimensions: textual dimension, discourse practice, and sociocultural practice. The results of this research indicate that Hai Magazine writes news articles following the evolving trends from year to year, divided into three time periods. In the early 1980s, there was a dominant coverage of the new wave genre. In the mid-1980s, blues rock was thriving, and towards the end of the 1980s, there were articles about the decline of rock music. From a textual dimension perspective, the identification is based on the life stories and career journeys of the discussed musicians, as well as describing the subjects that were widely discussed. The discourse practice dimension identifies that the writers bring their subjects into the news writing, presenting the news from their own perspective. Based on the sociocultural practice dimension, the findings are divided into three categories: changing music trends grouped through periodization, news related to the economic position of companies, and articles that incorporate social values.

| Additional Information: | Majalah Hai sebagai salah satu media massa yang banyak memuat pemberitaan mengenai musik atau yang biasa disebut jurnalisme musik. Di Indonesia pada tahun 1980an dikatakan sebagai era terbaik musik Indonesia. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana musik diberitakan dan jenis tulisan musik bila dilihat dari dimensi teks, dimensi discourse practice, dan dimensi sociocultural practice pada era 1980-an versi Majalah Hai. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Teknik analisis wacana kritis milik Norman Fairclough digunakan yang dimana menggabungkan tiga dimensi yang saling berkaitan yaitu dimensi teks, discourse practice,dan sociocultural practice. Adapun hasil dari penelitian ini Majalah Hai menuliskan berita mengikuti tren yang sedang berkembang dari tahun ke tahun dibagi menjadi tiga pembabakan waktu dimana awal tahun 1980an didominasi dengan pemberitaan new wave, pertengahan tahun 1980an blues rock yang tengah berjaya dan akhir tahun 1980an mengenai keruntuhan musik rock. Dilihat dari dimensi teks diidentifikasi berdasarkan kisah hidup dan perjalanan karir musisi yang diperbincangkan serta mendeskripsikan subjek yang sedang dibicarakan orang banyak. Dimensi discourse practice mengidentifikasi bahwa penulis membawa subjeknya dalam penulisan berita sehingga berita dibawakan dengan sudut pandang penulis. Berdasarkan dimensi sociocultural practice terbagi menjadi tiga berdasarkan tren musik yang berubah dengan dikelompokan melalui periodesasi, berita yang berkaitan dengan posisi ekonomi perusahaan, dan artikel yang memuat nilai sosial. | |||||||||
