Abstract
This study aims to determine students' difficulties in understanding the concepts and principles of sound waves in organ pipes. This study used a qualitative descriptive research design with 30 students in class XI IPA at SMAN 1 Tirtayasa as subjects. The data collection instrument in this study consisted of written essay tests and interviews. The data analysis technique used is using triangulation techniques in the form of observations, written essay tests, interviews, and documentation. Based on the results of the analysis of the data obtained, students had difficulty understanding the concept of waves in organ pipes. The difficulty experienced by students in understanding the concept of an organ pipe is that students do not understand the basic concept of the organ pipe, so students often make mistakes in determining the wave patterns of open and closed organ pipes. Students also do not understand the relationship between frequency and wavelength, as a result, to determine the frequency equation, students often make mistakes between the tone frequency equations of open and closed organ pipes. This is because students only memorize physics formulas without understanding how these concepts are formed. The habit of students who just memorize physics formulas without understanding the concept makes students experience difficulties when solving problems contained in the questions.

Additional Information: | Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kesulitan siswa dalam memahami konsep dan prinsip gelombang bunyi pada pipa organa. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dengan subjek sebanyak 30 siswa kelas XI IPA SMAN 1 Tirtayasa. Instrument pengumpulan data pada penelitian ini terdiri dari tes uraian tertulis dan wawancara. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan yaitu menggunakan teknik triangulasi berupa hasil observasi, tes uraian tertulis, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data yang diperoleh siswa mengalami kesulitan dalam memahami konsep gelombang pada pipa organa. Kesulitan yang dialami siswa dalam memahami konsep pipa organa adalah siswa belum memahami konsep dasar dari pipa organa tersebut, sehingga siswa sering keliru dalam menentukan pola gelombang dari pipa organa terbuka dan tertutup. Siswa juga belum memahami hubungan frekuensi dengan panjang gelombang alhasil untuk menentukan persamaan frekuensinya pun siswa sering keliru antara persamaan frekuensi nada dari pipa organa terbuka dan tertutup. Hal ini dikarenakan siswa hanya sekedar menghafal rumus-rumus fisika tanpa memahami bagaimana konsep tersebut terbentuk. Kebiasaan siswa yang hanya sekedar menghafal rumus fisika tanpa memahami konsepnya membuat siswa mengalami kesulitan pada saat menyelesaikan permasalahan yang terdapat pada soal. | |||||||||
