Abstract

Flexible road pavement is an effort to coat roads that are on the subgrade surface using aggregate and asphalt. The resilient modulus is a mechanistic parameter related to material properties used for planning or evaluating the performance of asphalt mixtures. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of nickel slag on the value of the resilient modulus in Asphalt Concrete Binder Course (AC-BC). To obtain the resilient modulus value, laboratory tests were carried out using the Universal Material Testing Apparatus (UMATTA) with test temperatures of 25°C, 35°C and 45°C. The test object used was an asphalt mixture with an Asphalt Concrete Binder Course (AC-BC) with a nickel slag content of 0%, 10%, 40%, and 70% and the optimum asphalt content (KAO) value respectively was 5.25 %, 5.5%, 6%, and 5.5%. Based on the tests that have been carried out, the highest resilient modulus value was obtained for the specimen with 70% nickel slag content and 5.5% optimum bitumen content, namely 2728 MPa at 25°C. This value is greater than the value obtained on the test object with 0% nickel slag content and 5.25% optimum asphalt content, which is 1743.33 MPa at 25°C. It can be concluded that nickel slag can be used as a substitute for natural aggregates and meets the criteria according to the Bina Marga Specification 2018.

Additional Information: Perkerasan jalan lentur merupakan upaya pelapisan jalan yang berada pada permukaan tanah dasar dengan menggunakan agregat dan aspal. Modulus resilien merupakan suatu parameter mekanistik yang terkait dengan sifat material yang digunakan untuk perencanaan ataupun evaluasi kinerja campuran beraspal. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui pengaruh slag nikel terhadap nilai modulus resilien pada campuran Aspal Beton Lapis Antara (AC-BC). Untuk mendapatkan nilai modulus resilien, dilakukan pengujian laboratorium dengan menggunakan alat Universal Material Testing Apparatus (UMATTA) dengan suhu pengujian 25°C, 35°C, dan 45°C. Benda uji yang digunakan yaitu benda uji campuran beraspal lapis beton antara (AC-BC) dengan kadar slag nikel sebesar 0%, 10%, 40%, dan 70% serta nilai kadar aspal optimum (KAO) secara berturut-turut yaitu 5,25%, 5,5%, 6%, dan 5,5%. Berdasarkan pengujian yang telah dilakukan, didapat nilai modulus resilien tertinggi pada benda uji dengan kadar slag nikel 70% dan kadar aspal optimum 5,5% yaitu sebesar 2728 MPa pada suhu 25°C. Nilai tersebut lebih besar daripada nilai yang diperoleh pada benda uji dengan kadar slag nikel 0% dan kadar aspal optimum 5,25% yaitu sebesar 1743,33 MPa pada suhu 25°C. Dapat disumpulkan bahwa slag nikel dapat digunakan sebagai bahan pengganti agregat alami dan telah memenuhi kriteria sesuai dengan Spesifikasi Bina Marga Tahun 2018.
