Abstract
Black liquor contains high of lignin, substrate-based lignin had been reported to be developed into activated carbon. This study carried out by activated carbon from black liquor of pretreatment bioethanol process to degrade synthesis dye Acid Red and Acid Orange. The process was conducted with coagulation, flocculation, sedimention, drying, then physical activation. Hence, the activated carbon was analyzed by FTIR for chemical bonding properties, BET for surface area properties and SEM for surface morphology properties. Variabel of this adsorption study were adsorption time and doses of activated carbon to determine effectivity of the activated carbon adsorption. The result of carbon from black liquor had a surface area of 141.96 m2/g and a pore size of 2.06 nm, FTIR result indicated strong stretching of carbon bonding like C-C and C=C, while the best for adsorption time was 20-60 minutes for both adsorbate, decolorization value achieved up to 99%, isotherm adsorption occurred was Langmuir isotherm, adsoption kinetics occurred was second order, maximum adsorption capacity were 10.56 mg/g on Acid Orange and 9.32 mg/g on Acid Red.

Additional Information: | Lindi hitam memiliki kandungan lignin yang dapat diolah menjadi karbon aktif. Penelitian ini membuat karbon aktif dari lindi hitam dari hasil pretreatment bioethanol process untuk mendegradasi zat warna Acid Red dan Acid Orange. Proses yang dilakukan yakni koagulasi, flokulasi, sedimentasi, drying, serta aktivasi secara fisika. Sampel karbon aktif yang diperoleh diuji karakteristiknya dengan BET untuk luas permukaan, FTIR untuk ikatan kimiawi, dan SEM untuk morfologi permukaan. Pengujian efektivitas adsorpsi karbon aktif menggunakan variabel waktu adsorpsi dan dosis karbon aktif. Karbon aktif dari lindi hitam memiliki luas permukaan sebesar 141.96 m2/g dan ukuran pori 2.06 nm, morfologi permukaannya berpori, bergerigi, serta kasar, hasil uji FTIR mengindikasikan stretching yang kuat pada ikatan antar karbon yakni C-C dan C=C. Sedangkan waktu adsorpsi terbaik adalah 20 - 60 menit pada kedua limbah , nilai dekolorisasi dicapai hingga 99 %, isotherm adsorpsi yang terjadi adalah isoterm Langmuir, kinetika yang terjadi adalah orde 2, serta kapasitas adsorpsi maksimal sebesar 10.56 mg/g pada Acid Orange dan 9.32 mg/g pada Acid Red. | |||||||||
