Abstract
In general, students' problem-solving abilities vary, this is associated with gender differences, gender differences here are gender differences between men and women. This difference in ability is seen in the responses given by students when solving problems. The purpose of this study was to describe the math problem-solving skills of grade VIII junior high school students in terms of gender. The type of research used is descriptive qualitative. Determination of subjects selected using purposive sampling technique. The research subjects consisted of 6 class VIII students who had been given tests and had been interviewed according to the specified criteria. This study obtained the results that there were 3 groups for the male gender and 3 groups for the female gender. In the first group of male students were able to fulfill all stages of problem solving, the second group of students were able to fulfill 3 stages of problem solving. The third group of students was not able to fulfill all stages of problem solving. In the first group of female students were able to fulfill all stages of problem solving. The second group of students was able to fulfill the 3 stages of problem solving but there were errors. The third group of students was not able to fulfill all stages of problem solving

Additional Information: | Pada umumnya kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa berbeda-beda, hal ini dikaitkan dengan perbedaan gender, perbedaan gender disini merupakan perbedaan jenis kelamin antara laki-laki dan perempuan. Perbedaan kemampuan ini dilihat pada respon yang diberikan siswa pada saat memecahkan masalah. Tujuan dari penelitian ini merupakan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa SMP kelas VIII ditinjau dari gender. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Penentuan subjek dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Subjek penelitian terdiri atas 6 siswa kelas VIII yang telah diberikan tes dan sudah diwawancarai sesuai dengan kriteria yang ditentukan. Penelitian ini memperoleh hasil bahwa terbentuk 3 kelompok pada gender laki-laki dan 3 kelompok pada gender perempuan. Pada siswa laki-laki kelompok pertama siswa mampu memenuhi seluruh tahapan pemecahan masalah, kelompok kedua siswa mampu memenuhi 3 tahapan pemecahan masalah. Kelompok ketiga siswa tidak mampu memenuhi seluruh tahapan pemecahan masalah. Pada siswa perempuan kelompok pertama siswa mampu memenuhi seluruh tahapan pemecahan masalah. Kelompok kedua siswa mampu memenuhi 3 tahapan pemecahan masalah tetapi terdapat kesalahan. Kelompok ketiga siswa tidak mampu memenuhi seluruh tahapan pemecahan masalah | |||||||||
