Abstract
Pronunciation is essential in communicating. It can avoid misunderstandings. However, many students have difficulty pronouncing English words. Students in eleventh grade of SMA Nur El Falah have problems with pronunciation. This research aimed to determine whether minimal pairs is effective towards students’ pronunciation mastery at eleventh grade of SMA Nur El Falah. This research was located at SMA Nur El in Kubang, Serang district. This research's sample comprised forty-four eleventh-grade students. This research employed a quantitative method using a quasi-experimental with a non-equivalent (Pre-test and Post-test) control group design. The data collecting technique used testing (pre- and post-test), recording, and documenting. The data analysis technique used was statistical calculation analysis using IBM SPSS 25. The findings revealed that minimal pairs is effective towards students’ pronunciation mastery at the eleventh grade of SMA Nur El Falah. It was demonstrated by the value of the Man Whitney-U test that showed 0.000 < 0.05 means alternative hypothesis is accepted. Therefore, this indicates that minimal pairs is effective towards students’ pronunciation mastery at eleventh grade of SMA Nur El Falah. Keywords: Effectiveness, Pronunciation Mastery, Minimal Pairs

Additional Information: | Pengucapan sangat penting dalam berkomunikasi. Hal ini dapat menghindari kesalahpahaman. Namun, banyak siswa yang kesulitan mengucapkan kata-kata bahasa Inggris. Siswa kelas sebelas SMA Nur El Falah memiliki masalah dalam pengucapan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah Minimal Pairs efektif terhadap penguasaan pengucapan siswa di kelas sebelas SMA Nur El Falah. Penelitian ini berlokasi di SMA Nur El di Kubang Kabupaten Serang. Sampel penelitian ini terdiri dari empat puluh empat siswa kelas sebelas. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan desain quasi eksperimen, non-equivalent (Pre-test dan Post-test) control group. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan tes (pre dan post test), rekaman, dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis perhitungan statistik menggunakan IBM SPSS 25. Hasil temuan menunjukkan bahwa Minimal Pairs efektif terhadap penguasaan pengucapan siswa di kelas sebelas SMA Nur El Falah. Hal ini ditunjukkan dengan hasil uji hipotesis Man Whitney-U yang menunjukkan 0,000 < 0,05, dimana hipotesis alternatif diterima.
