Abstract

Melon is an annual plant that has a high level of demand. The availability of melon seeds in Indonesia is still imported from abroad to fulfill them. The assembly of Minion variety is a solution to increase the availability of seeds in the country. The current problem is that not all variety or lines produced by breeders can adapt well to an area. This research aimed to determine the adaptability of prospective hybrid melon variety assembled by PT. Benih Sumber Andalan to adapt in Cikarang Dramaga Village. This research was conducted at the research station PT. Benih Sumber Andalan (BSA) Dramaga Bogor, from December 2022 to March 2023. This research used a one-factor randomized block design consisting of four treatments, namely 1 candidate Minion variety and three control varieties namely Merlion, Kinanti and Alisha. Based on the results of the research, the Minion variety candidates were able to adapt well, this was proven by the existence of uniformity with the three comparison variety. This was proven by the results of the recapitulation analysis of variance, which had a coefficient of variance < 25% for all parameters observed. The Minion variety has better begomovirus disease resistance than the Merlion variety. Based on the results of the recapitulation of variance, the Minion variety candidate had the best results on the parameter of sugar content of 12.7 0 brix, and harvesting age of 65 HST. The appearance is unique in the form of an oval fruit shape with a small size but has a very sweet taste, so it has the potential to be liked by farmers and consumers.

Additional Information: Melon merupakan tanaman semusim yang memiliki tingkat permintaan tinggi. Ketersedian benih melon di indonesia masih didatangkan dari luar negeri untuk memenuhinya. Peningkatan produksi benih unggul akan menyebabkan ketersediaan benih melimpah dan mengurangi penggunaan benih impor. Pelaksanaan pengujian varietas menjadi persyaratan teknis yang mutlak dalam pelepasan varietas, salah satunya melalui uji adaptasi, untuk mengetahui ke dan interaksi varietas terhadap lingkungan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui daya adaptasi calon varietas melon hibrida rakitan PT. Sumber Benih Andalan mampu beradaptasi di Desa Cikarawang Dramaga. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Kebun Percobaan PT. Benih Sumber Andalan (BSA) Dramaga Bogor, pada bulan Desember 2022 s.d maret 2023. Metode penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) terdiri dari 4 perlakuan yaitu 1 calon varietas minion dan 3 varietas pembanding yaitu Merlion, Kinanti dan Alisha. Pengolahan data dilakukan sesuai dengan karakter yang diamati. Untuk variabel kualitatif dianalisis deskriptif sesuai dengan description for melon dari IPGRI. Sedangkan untuk data kuantitatif dilakukan dengan menggunakan analisis statistik deskriptif. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian calon varietas Minion mampu beradaptasi dengan baik, performa calon varietas minion sama baiknya dengan tiga varietas pembanding berdasarkan hasil analisis rekapitulasi sidik ragam memiliki nilai koefisien keragaman < 25% pada seluruh parameter yang diamati. Calon varietas Minion memiliki ketahanan penyakit begomovirus lebih baik dari pada varietas merlion. Berdasarkan hasil rekapitulasi sidik ragam calon varietas Minion memiliki hasil terbaik pada parameter kadar gula 12,7 brix, dan umur panen 65 HST.
