Abstract
The press, which is part of the media where journalistic activities are distributed, continues to grow with the enactment of Law No. 1. 40 years 1999 about the press. In this study, researchers used a qualitative type of research. This type of thing is a way to explore and build anything that is rooted in social or humanitarian issues. Researchers got data on the meaning of idealism for Tempo Newspaper reporters and how to uphold journalism values. Based on the problems and goals of the study that have been narrated, data from source is urgently needed as a result of the study, to interpret the data obtained. The results of interviews with journalists and the media are a force that can change public opinion instantly. This will make the mass medium move at its true function. This study just took the idealism of newspaper journalists to uphold the freedom of the press, so it would be better for later research to see how journalist’s idealism is used in newspapers or other media. In addition, this study can still be developed to find out the journalist’s strategy of maintaining his idealism before seeing how the strategy of maintaining idealism is formed, it would be better if the researcher could further define in detail the indicators of an idealime. This research is descriptive, so it can be developed with other types and paradigms. This may be in line, especially to explore the concept of journalist idealism

| Additional Information: | Pers yang merupakan bagian dari media tempat menyalurkan aktivitas jurnalistik, terus berkembang seiring dengan disahkannya Undang-undang No. 40 tahun 1999 mengenai pers. Pada penelitian ini, peneliti memakai jenis penelitian kualitatif. Jenis ini yaitu cara untuk mengeksplorasi dan membangun apa saja yang berakar pada isu-isu sosial ataupun kemanusiaan. Peneliti memperoleh data tentang makna idealisme bagi wartawan Koran Tempo dan bagaimana menjunjung tinggi nilainilai jurnalisme. Berdasarkan permasalahan dan tujuan penelitian yang sudah dinarasikan maka data dari narasumber sangat dibutuhkan sebagai hasil penelitian, untuk menginterpretasikan data yang diperoleh hasil wawancara wartawan dan media massa merupakan sebuah kekuatan yang dapat merubah opini publick dengan seketika. Hal ini akan menjadikan media massa bergerak pada fungsi yang sebenarnya. Penelitian ini baru mengambil sisi idealisme wartawan koran tempo dalam menjunjung tinggi kebebasan pers, maka akan lebih baik jika nantinya pada pelenelitian selanjutnta untuk melihat bagaimana pemaknaan idealisme wartawan pada koran atau media lain. Selain itu, penelitian ini masih dapat dikembangkan untuk mengetahui strategi wartawan dalam menjaga idealismenya sebelum melihat bagaimana strategi menjaga idealisme dibentuk, akan lebih baik jika peneliti selanjutnya dapat mendefinisikan lebih rinci indikator sebuah idealsime. Penelitian inii bersifat deskriptif, maka dapat dikembangkan dengan jenis dan paradigma lain. Hal teresebut mungkin bisa sejalan terutama untuk mendalami konsep idealisme wartawan. | |||||||||
