Abstract

This undergraduate thesis is about the use of Brainstorming technique in improving speaking skill at the eleventh-grade of SMKN 10 Kabupaten Tangerang. The objective of this research is to find out whether or not the use of Brainstorming technique is effective in improving speaking skill at the eleventh-grade of SMKN 10 Kabupaten Tangerang. This research used quantitative methodology with quasi-experimental and non-equivalent control group as the research design. The sample of this research was XI MM 2 as the experimental class and XI MM 4 as the control class with 29 students in each class. The instrument used in this research was in form of pre-test and post-test that required the students to describe particular things, place, and people. All the data obtained from the students’ scores of pre-test and post-test were analyzed using IBM SPSS 25 version. The main finding of this research showed the result of Independent T-test from students’ score of post-test that was 0.008, which indicated a significant difference between the experimental class and control class. It could be concluded that the use of Brainstorming technique was effective in improving speaking skill at the eleventh-grade of SMKN 10 Kabupaten Tangerang. It is suggested that Brainstorming technique can be alternative technique to teach speaking skill.
