Abstract
This study aims to find out how Busuu learning application is implemented in teaching vocabulary, the challenges of using Busuu, and students' responses to the use of Busuu in learning vocabulary at Grade 7 Istafad Middle School. The researcher used a qualitative method with a case study design. The instruments used were observation, interviews, and questionnaires. This data has been analyzed using matrix analysis from Miles and Hubermans which consists of reduction, display, and conclusion. The results of the study show that the teacher implements the Busuu application in teaching vocabulary by adapting the subject matter to the material in the Busuu application. When teachers use the Busuu application in teaching vocabulary, teachers face challenges to build good interactions between teachers and students. Meanwhile, when students use the Busuu application, they face several challenges, namely chatting with native speakers and having quizzes in the voice note feature application to find out correct or incorrect pronunciation, complete missing words in sentences, and arrange words. Students’ responses to the use of the Busuu application during vocabulary learning, students feel enjoy so they are active and enthusiastic in participating in the learning process. From the research that has been done, it is recommended that teachers be more creative in using learning media.

Additional Information: | Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana penerapan aplikasi pembelajaran Busuu dalam pembelajaran kosakata, tantangan penggunaan Busuu, dan tanggapan siswa terhadap penggunaan Busuu dalam pembelajaran kosakata di kelas 7 SMP Istafad. Peneliti menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan desain studi kasus. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah observasi, wawancara, dan angket. Data ini dianalisis dengan menggunakan analisis matriks dari Miles dan Hubermans yang terdiri dari reduksi, display, dan konklusi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa guru mengimplementasikan aplikasi Busuu dalam mengajar kosa kata dengan menyesuaikan materi pelajaran dengan materi di aplikasi Busuu. Ketika guru menggunakan aplikasi Busuu dalam mengajar kosakata, guru menghadapi tantangan untuk membangun interaksi yang baik antara guru dan siswa. Sementara itu, ketika siswa menggunakan aplikasi Busuu, mereka menghadapi beberapa tantangan, yaitu mengobrol dengan penutur asli dan mengikuti kuis di aplikasi fitur voice note untuk mengetahui pengucapan yang benar atau salah, melengkapi kata yang hilang dalam kalimat, dan menyusun kata. Respon siswa terhadap penggunaan aplikasi Busuu selama pembelajaran kosakata, siswa merasa enjoy sehingga aktif dan antusias dalam mengikuti proses pembelajaran. Dari penelitian yang telah dilakukan disarankan agar guru lebih kreatif dalam menggunakan media pembelajaran. | |||||||||
