Abstract

The researcher is aimed to find out the effectiveness of flashcards on the speaking skills of students at SDN Poris Plawad 1 Kota Tangerang. The researcher utilized a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design. The target population was fifth-grade students, and a random sampling technique was employed to select the sample, which consisted of 60 students divided into an experimental class and a control class. The effectiveness of flashcards was assessed through a post-test administered to both groups. The researcher ensured the validity and reliability of the instruments by employing content validity and inter-rater reliability measures. The hypothesis was tested using the t-test in SPSS v26, the calculation show the result t-value (tcount) exceeded the critical t-value (ttable) (3.07>2.00) at a significant level of 0.05 (5%). The result of the alternative hypothesis indicated the effectiveness of using picture flashcards for improving students' speaking skills at SDN Poris Plawad 1 Kota Tangerang. In conclusion, flashcards can serve as an effective tool for enhancing students' speaking skills in an enjoyable manner. Flashcards can help students in vocabulary development, pronunciation, fluency, comprehension, and grammar in Teaching and Learning English.

Additional Information: Peneliti bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas kartu gambar pada keterampilan berbicara siswa di SDN Poris Plawad 1 Kota Tangerang. Peneliti menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain kuasi-eksperimental. Populasi target adalah siswa kelas lima, dan teknik pengambilan sampel acak digunakan untuk memilih sampel, yang terdiri dari 60 siswa yang dibagi menjadi kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Efektivitas kartu gambar dinilai melalui tes pasca uji yang diberikan kepada kedua kelompok. Peneliti memastikan validitas dan reliabilitas instrumen dengan menggunakan validitas konten dan ukuran reliabilitas antar-penilai. Hipotesis diuji menggunakan uji-t dalam SPSS v26, perhitungan menunjukkan bahwa nilai t (t hitung) melebihi nilai t kritis (t tabel) (3,07 > 2,00) pada tingkat signifikansi 0,05 (5%). Hasil hipotesis alternatif menunjukkan efektivitas penggunaan kartu gambar untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara siswa di SDN Poris Plawad 1 Kota Tangerang. Kesimpulannya, kartu gambar dapat menjadi alat yang efektif untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara siswa dengan cara yang menyenangkan. Kartu gambar dapat membantu siswa dalam pengembangan kosakata, pengucapan, kelancaran, pemahaman, dan tata bahasa dalam Pembelajaran dan Pengajaran Bahasa Inggris.
