Ana Zahrotun Nisa. NIM. 082076. Skripsi. Prasangka Sosial Antara Mahasiswa Etnis Tionghoa dan Etnis Pribumi di Universitas Tarumanagara. Universitas Tarumanagara merupakan salah satu universitas swasta di Jakarta yang memiliki mahasiswa dari berbagai daerah yang ada di Indonesia. Bila diamati, persentase mahasiswa yang beretnis Tionghoa berjumlah kurang lebih 70% dari keseluruhan mahasiswa. Ini menjadikan etnis Tionghoa menjadi mayoritas dan etnis Pribumi menjadi minoritas di Universitas Tarumanagara. Bukan tidak mungkin hal ini dapat menimbulkan kesenjangan dan menyuburkan terjadinya prasangka sosial antara etnis Pribumi dan Tionghoa di kampus tersebut. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menggambarkan serta menjelaskan terjadinya prasangka sosial diantara mahasiswa etnis Tionghoa dan mahasiswa etnis Pribumi di Universitas Tarumanagara yang terbentuk dari persepsi-persepsi negatif. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Karena peneliti berupaya untuk menggambarkan secara jelas bagaimana prasangka sosial antara mahasiswa etnis Tionghoa dan etnis Pribumi di Universitas Tarumanagara sebagai salah satu universitas yang mayoritas mahasiswanya adalah Tionghoa. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah dengan melakukan observasi dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian Prasangka sosial antara mahasiswa etnis Tionghoa dan etnis Pribumi di Universitas Tarumanagara ialah terbentuk berdasarkan faktor lingkungan, perbedaan fisik, perbedaan gaya hidup, ekslusifitas kelompok, dan pengalaman individual yang tak menyenangkan. Prasangka sosial memiliki kualitas suka dan tidak suka pada objek yang diprasangkainya dan kondisi ini mempengaruhi tindakan atau perilaku seseorang yang berprasangka tersebut. Pengkategorian cenderung mengkontraskan antara dua pihak yang berbeda. Jika yang satu dinilai baik maka kelompok lain cenderung dinilai buruk. Keadaan ini dapat menimbulkan hambatan dalam prestasi dan komunikasi karena masing-masing kelompok merasa paling baik. Keadaan ini baik terbuka ataupun tidak telah melahirkan prasangka sosial.

Tarumanagara University is one of private universities in Jakarta, which has students from various regions in Indonesia. When calculated by visible, the percentage of Chinese ethnic students comprise less than 70% of all students. This makes Chinese ethnic become the majority and Indigenous ethnic the minority in Tarumanagara University. It is not possible this can cause gaps and foster the social prejudices among Indigenous and Chinese ethnic in the campus. The purpose of this study is to describe and explain the social prejudice among Chinese ethnic students and Indigenous ethnic students in Tarumanagara University which formed by negative perceptions. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative research method in which researchers will try to give an idea of the state of the subject or object of research at the present time based on the facts that appear or as they are. Because with this method the researchers attempted to describe clearly how social prejudice among Chinese ethnic and Indigenous ethnic students in Tarumanagara University as the university which most of the students is Chinese ethnic. The technique used for data collection is to make observation and interviews. The results of social prejudice among Chinese ethnic and Indigenous ethnic students in Tarumanagara University was formed by environmental factors, physical differences, lifestyle differences, exclusion group, and individual experience unpleasant. Social prejudices have quality likes and dislikes on objects exposed to prejudice, and this affects the actions or behavior of someone who is prejudiced. Categorizing tend to contrast between two different parties. If one assessed both the other groups tend to be judged poorly. This situation may pose a barrier to achievement and communication for each group feels best. This situation is either open or not has given rise to social prejudice. |
