Abstract

Speaking is very important, therefore, an appropriate learning media are needed for students learning speaking skill. This study aims to find out how SMAN 1 Cikande students’ perception about using English Swara YouTube as a learning media of speaking skill, as well as to find out what are the benefits that students get. The researcher used qualitative research method with a case study design. The population of this research was XII IPA 2 Class of SMAN 1 Cikande with 36 participants. The instrument applied during the study was 18 questionnaires and 6 interviews questions. The finding of this study demonstrated that students had a positive responses of using English Swara YouTube as a learning media of speaking skill. The respondents’ had positive response of English Swara YouTube was based on their own learning experience. English Swara YouTube has good impact in practicing speaking after students watched material from English Swara YouTube, using English Swara YouTube as a learning media of speaking skill, they found it interesting and effective. This study also shows the benefit that they get from using English Swara YouTube as a learning media of speaking skill, it can increase the number of new words and minimizes students' fears to pronounce words. It can be concluded that students’ perception about using English Swara YouTube as a learning media of speaking skill had a positive responses to help students learning of speaking skill. Suggestion for future research, to explore more about students’ perception about using English Swara YouTube as a learning media in all English skill such as listening, writing, not only speaking and explore further about the obstacles that students face.

Additional Information: keterampilan berbicara merupakan hal yang sangat penting, oleh karena itu diperlukan media pembelajaran yang tepat untuk pembelajaran keterampilan berbicara siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana persepsi siswa SMAN 1 Cikande tentang penggunaan YouTube English Swara sebagai media pembelajaran keterampilan berbicara, serta untuk mengetahui apa saja manfaat yang diperoleh siswa. Peneliti menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dengan desain studi kasus. Populasi penelitian ini adalah kelas XII IPA 2 SMAN 1 Cikande dengan jumlah peserta 36 orang. Instrumen yang digunakan selama penelitian adalah 18 kuesioner dan 6 pertanyaan wawancara. Temuan penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa siswa memiliki respon positif dalam menggunakan YouTube English Swara sebagai media pembelajaran keterampilan berbicara. Tanggapan positif responden terhadap YouTube English Swara didasarkan pada pengalaman belajar mereka sendiri. YouTube English Swara memiliki dampak yang baik dalam berlatih berbicara setelah siswa menonton materi dari YouTube English Swara, menggunakan YouTube English Swara sebagai media pembelajaran keterampilan berbicara, mereka merasa menarik dan efektif. Studi ini juga menunjukkan manfaat yang mereka peroleh dari penggunaan YouTube English Swara sebagai media pembelajaran keterampilan berbicara, dapat meningkatkan jumlah kata baru dan meminimalkan ketakutan siswa untuk mengucapkan kata-kata. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa persepsi siswa tentang penggunaan YouTube English Swara sebagai media pembelajaran keterampilan berbicara memiliki respon positif untuk membantu siswa belajar keterampilan berbicara. Saran untuk penelitian selanjutnya, untuk menggali lebih dalam tentang persepsi siswa tentang penggunaan YouTube English Swara sebagai media pembelajaran dalam semua keterampilan bahasa Inggris seperti mendengarkan, menulis, tidak hanya berbicara dan menggali lebih jauh tentang kendala yang dihadapi siswa.
