Abstract

The objectives of this research were to describe the influence of using scientific approach toward students‟ writing skill in descriptive text for tenth grade students. This research methodology was quasi-experimental research. The implementation of quasi-experiment research was conducted by dividing the samples into two different groups. There are experimental group and control group. This research involved the students of tenth grade class of X and X PM which each of the class consisted of 30 students. The instrument used in collecting the data was pre-test and post-test. Only experimental group received the treatment. The result of t-test showed between experimental group and control group that the t-count is 3,914 > 1,671 t-table with df is 58. It also showed that the p-value is 0,0001 > 0,05  which means H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. Scientific approach could influence students‟ writing skill in descriptive text. From that finding, it can be concluded that scientific approach has significant influence toward students learning process.
