Abstract

This study was challenged by the student's low mathematical communication skills caused by the teacher's less helpful teaching materials in the development of students' ability to communicate mathematically and the appearance on the materials used less attractive resulting students become saturated and bored in the learning process. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a cooperative model based on LKPD type talking stick to improve the student's mathematical communication skills. The study used the Borg and Gall (1983) development model which had 10 stages, but in this study only 9 stages due to limited time. The research was carried out at SMPN 1 Kelapa Dua with research subjects of Class IX totaling 35 students for small scale tests and Class VIII totaling 70 students for large scale trials. The results of the material expert qualification test obtained a score of 83.5% and the results of media experts received a rating of 86.8%, thus obtaining criteria are highly eligible. The results of the practicality test of the teacher's responses obtained a score of 86.67% and the results of students' responses received a rating of 82.55%, thus obtaining very practical criteria. The results of the effectiveness test using N-Gain to measure student improvement after using the developed product against student mathematical communication abilities were obtained at 61.14% with fairly effective criteria. Based on this, the products developed meet criteria that are appropriate, practical and effective for use in the learning process.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa yang disebabkan karena bahan ajar guru kurang membantu dalam pengembangan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa dan tampilan pada bahan ajar yang digunakan kurang menarik mengakibatkan siswa menjadi jenuh dan bosan dalam proses pembelajaran. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan pengembangan LKPD berbasis model kooperatif tipe talking stick untuk meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan model pengembangan Borg and Gall (1983) yang memiliki 10 tahapan, namun dalam penelitian ini hanya 9 tahap dikarenakan waktu yang terbatas. Penelitian dilaksanakan di SMPN 1 Kelapa Dua dengan subjek penelitian kelas IX berjumlah 35 siswa untuk uji coba skala kecil dan kelas VIII berjumlah 70 siswa untuk uji coba skala besar. Hasil uji kelayakan ahli materi diperoleh nilai 83,5% dan hasil ahli media diperoleh nilai 86,8%, sehingga didapat kriteria sangat layak. Hasil uji kepraktisan dari respon guru diperoleh nilai 86,67% dan hasil dari respon siswa diperoleh nilai 82,55%, sehingga didapat kriteria sangat praktis. Hasil uji keefektivan dengan menggunakan N-Gain untuk mengukur peningkatan siswa setelah menggunakan produk yang dikembangkan terhadap kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa diperoleh sebesar 61,14% dengan kriteria cukup efektif. Berdasarkan hal tersebut, produk yang dikembangkan memenuhi kriteria layak, praktis dan efektif untuk digunakan dalam proses pembelajaran.
