Abstract

Diarrhea is included into 10 diseases with the most prevalence in Serang City in 2021 with a total of 11.558 cases. There are many factors that cause diarrhea, one of which is the climate factor (air temperature and rainfall). This study aims to describe the air temperature, rainfall, and cases of diarrhea; determine the effect air temperature and cases of diarrhea; and knowing the effect rainfall and cases of diarrhea in Serang City at 2021-2022. The analysis technique used is univariate and bivariate analysis. The data used are secondary data from the Maritime Meteorological Station Class I Serang, the Serang City Health Office and primary data from the results of the questionnaire. The results of the univariate analysis show that the highest total cases of diarrhea was in February 2021 with 1155 cases and the lowest in July 2022 with 621 cases, the highest average monthly temperature in August 2021 was 28.3°C and the lowest in February 2021 was 25.9°C, and the highest average monthly rainfall in March 2022 of 287.5 mm and the lowest in August 2021 of 31.3 mm. The results of bivariate analysis showed that there was a significant correlation (p = 0,013) with moderate correlation of negative pattern between air temperature and cases of diarrhea (r = -0,499) and a significant correlation (p = 0,001) with strong correlation of positive pattern between rainfall and cases of diarrhea (r = 0,615). The results of questionnaire with Serang City residents also showed results in line with secondary data.
