Abstract

Sugar is a basic human need that is very often used, because sugar has various functions in food, beverages, medicines and raw materials for the pharmaceutical industry. The manufacture of palm sugar in Sabrang Village is still done traditionally and with manual tools. Promotions carried out by craftsmen are still not effective compared to competitors in other villages which are quite a lot. Therefore there is a need for a palm sugar business development strategy to reach more market share and continue to develop the palm sugar business in the midst of competitive competition by creating appropriate alternative strategies. This study aims to identify what internal factors are the strengths and weaknesses and what external factors are the opportunities and threats for the palm sugar business in Sabrang Village and find out the strategy for developing the palm sugar business in Sabrang Village. This research method is the IFE matrix, EFE matrix, IE matrix and SWOT matrix. The results of the analysis show that the palm sugar business is in quadrant 1. The results of the SWOT analysis identify six alternatives that can be applied by the craftsmen. Keyword : Agriculture, browen sugar, SWOT analysis

Additional Information:	Gula merupakan kebutuhan pokok manusia yang sangat sering digunakan, karena gula memiliki berbagai fungsi dalam makanan, minuman, obat-obatan dan bahan baku industri farmasi. Pembuatan gula aren di Desa Sabrang masih dilakukan secara tradisional dan dengan alat manual. Promosi yang dilakukan pengrajin masih belum efektif dibandingkan dengan pesaing di desa lain yang jumlahnya cukup banyak. Oleh karena itu diperlukan strategi pengembangan usaha gula aren untuk meraih pangsa pasar yang lebih besar dan terus mengembangkan usaha gula aren di tengah persaingan yang kompetitif dengan menciptakan alternatif strategi yang tepat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi faktor internal apa yang menjadi kekuatan dan kelemahan serta faktor eksternal apa yang menjadi peluang dan ancaman bagi usaha gula aren di Desa Sabrang serta mengetahui strategi pengembangan usaha gula aren di Desa Sabrang. Metode penelitian ini adalah matriks IFE, matriks EFE, matriks IE dan matriks SWOT. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa usaha gula aren berada pada kuadran 1. Hasil analisis SWOT mengidentifikasi enam alternatif yang dapat diterapkan oleh para pengrajin. Kata kunci : Pertanian, gula merah, analisis SWOT
