Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance of studying the field of mathematics which is still considered complicated, difficult, and unattractive by students. This causes the low learning achievement of students in mathematics, especially in data presentation material. It is known that students have difficulties in analyzing and classifying data types and displaying them in diagrams or tables. So that the project-based learning model is applied as an effort to improve student learning outcomes. The project-based learning model with the food bouquet project can involve students directly in learning. This study aims to determine the effect of project-based learning on students' learning achievement in mathematics, to determine students' collaboration skills in completing the food bouquet project, and to determine the factors of project-based learning that most influence students' understanding. The research method used is a mix-method. The research method was carried out with a quantitative and qualitative approach. The research technique taken is sequential mixed methods. The population in this study were students of class VII SMPN 3 Cilegon City. The study involved two sample classes, namely class VII A as the experimental class and class VII C as the control class. The instruments used in this study were evaluation instruments (post-test), observation instruments and interview instruments. The results of the study show that there is a positive influence from project-based learning on learning achievement in mathematics, at each stage and each group has collaboration with different levels of collaboration, and the factor of project-based learning that most influences students' understanding is the presence of projects/activities that involve students actively. direct and group learning processes that result in students learning from friends.

Additional Information: Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pentingnya mempelajari bidang ilmu matematika yang dinilai masih rumit, sulit, dan kurang menarik oleh peserta didik. Hal ini menyebabkan masih rendahnya capaian belajar peserta didik dalam mata pelajaran matematika khususnya pada materi penyajian data. Diketahui peserta didik kesulitan dalam menganalisis dan klasifikasi jenis data dan menampilkan pada diagram atau tabel. Sehingga diterapkan model project-based learning sebagai salah satu upaya dalam meningkatkan capaian belajar peserta didik. Model project-based learning dengan proyek buket makanan dapat melibatkan peserta didik secara langsung dalam pembelajaran. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh dari project-based learning terhadap capaian belajar matematika peserta didik, mengetahui kemampuan kolaborasi peserta didik dalam menyelesaikan proyek buket makanan, dan mengetahui faktor dari project-based learning yang paling mempengaruhi pemahamanan peserta didik. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah mix-methode. Metode penelitian dilakukan dengan pendekatan kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Teknik penelitian yang diambil adalah sequential mixed methods. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah peserta didik kelas VII SMPN 3 Kota Cilegon. Penelitian melibatkan dua kelas sampel yakni kelas VII A sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas VII C sebagai kelas kontrol. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah instrumen evaluasi (post-test), instrumen observasi, dan instrumen wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada pengaruh positif dari project-based learning terhadap capaian belajar matematika, pada tiap tahapan dan tiap kelompok memiliki kolaborasi dengan tingkat kolaborasi yang berbeda, dan faktor dari project-based learning yang paling mempengauhi pemahaman peserta didik adalah adanya proyek/kegiatan yang melibatkan peserta didik secara langsung dan proses belajar kelompok yang mengakibatkan peserta didik belajar dari teman.
